I just caught wind of a very important update to the transmission shudder TSB.

Apparently, as of July 9th, the TSB has been revised to no longer require diagnostic procedures. This is obviously big news for those of us who have had to jump through dealer hoops to get anything done.

The attached screenshot is the best reference I’ve found so far. Anyone have the official updated TSB?

A huge post. Thank you.

Is this saying its no questions asked and you get a flush on the first visit?
Its clear that if you return with shudder, you get diagnostics.

The way I read it is if the customer complains about shudder, they can now skip the diagnostics and go right to the flush. Then if the flush does not correct, then they must run the diagnostics.

Just got the truck back with the full flush to blue label done.

No hassle no issues and no questions.

I will see how it goes for the next week and see if I note any difference.

To be honest I really had little to no shudder but thought it wise to get with the new fluid since GM thinks enough of it to install it in the new trucks at this point.

No sense waiting till it starts and glazes the converter.

We all might want to remember this is on the drive line warranty so it is a 5 year 60k mile warranty so we should be safely covered for a good bit yet unless you really drive a lot.

I'm right there with you on this. I haven't really experienced the shudder on my Canyon, just my Camaro, although it does do some weird shifting at low speeds. I just want this done for preventative maintenance and peace of mind

I just talked with my service manager. On the books for the second 355 flush no questions. At least this time I’ll know the transfer tank won’t be frozen.

What model year/build date limitations are covered by this TSB?

Why? You should not have the problems that 17-up owners have. Yours is covered by a different TSB. TSB #18-NA-145.

I would like to get that flush line adapter. It appears to be return line/supply line diverter supplying new and draining old fluid.
Can anyone get a part number?

That is the factory fluid in the vette’s.

It is everyone anymore.

With cutting cost and more and more complex vehicles in a very competitive market they sometimes rush things through for better or worse.

Some MFGs have some less issue as they make such small changes that they perfect. The model but then you end up with a vehicle like a Taco that begins to fall behind.

Also today they can have supplier issues.

Check it out:

"Dealers should discontinue the use of the black label Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP fluid. A communication from CCA will be released soon advising dealers of how to dispose of the old product.

The base stock of old fluid (19355656) has the ability to attract low levels of moisture, which can cause degradation of the coefficient of friction of the fluid. The new fluid (19417577) has a new GTL (Gas to Liquid) base stock that is able to tolerate more moisture. Shuddering transmissions and torque converters have been recovered with the new fluid. New transmission fluid tests have been developed due this issue to prevent it from occurring with new transmission fluids."

Yes this was what GM started back in Dec.

It was the first admission to what was happening to cause this.

In what I have read on Shudder in the industry it has been moisture from various scourge that cause the issue. Some fluids and even in Audi it was from the transmission coolers in the Radiator.

It appeared logical but till some had it done with good results....

I even read on some gun web sites folks I pushed tranny fluid to prevent rust on guns. Some of the new formulas of other types are attracting moisture and has caused issues according to them.

It used to be simple we had just two main fluids and today look at how many we have.

Sounds exactly like one of the symptoms.

Can anyone in Southern California recommend a GMC Dealership that has performed the latest TSB for the shudder? Can I take my GMC to Chevy? I have had 3 experiences now with two different GMC dealerships that have no idea what there doing. I went to my local dealer as per my appointment today. They gave me a brand new canyon for a loaner. This thing had no shudder or clunk in the trans drove so much nicer than my 18 Denali with ruffly the same mileage. Called 8 hrs later for an update for the advisor to tell me they haven't looked at the truck yet and to top it off he was going to be out tomorrow. In the heat of the moment decided to pick up my truck felt like they were wasting my time. Any advice? Thanks!
