You did the front emblem too correct? I ask because I would be curious if it's held up to hitting bugs, etc. If so, I would be very tempted. I tried it with my wheels and it's held up great so far after about 6 months.

Actually, i lied...I only did the back w the plasti dip, was planning to do front the day of my original post but time for the best of me. Sorry...lol.

I just did the front with a vinyl wrap (vividvinyl.com), I swear . Came out really good I think.

Plastidip is super easy and reversible. Any overspray just buffs right off.

Black Bage Replacement

So i purchased a 16 Colorado Diesel and it came with the gold badging so I ordered a black set off of eBay for $75.

The grill was easy and took five minutes. I unscrewed the torx screws on the top of the grill and slipped my hand in there and unclipped the badge. Supper Easy.

The tailgate wasn't as easy. I used a hairdryer and fishing line and got it off easily. Getting the adhesive off took some time. I used goo gone and a lot of elbow grease to get it all off. I was upset to see than I had scratches from using my finger nails all over. I tried to wax them out but I could still see some small ones. Not too bad but I can tell they are there.

All in all it turned out great. The black badges are much better. Even with the tailgate being a pain I think it is better than the plastic dip if your willing to spend the money.

We must be thinking the same, just did mine this morning, red truck. You can just buy the inserts on Amazon, but they are a little over $100. Supposedly come with a template that you use to drill out the gold inserts, then pop in the new black ones. I did mine the same as you, with the fun glue part on the rear.... Like the black much better.... Looks like you have the back emblem on upside down.... [ just messing with you :^) ]

I opted to pay the dealer to do this (my dealer has a body shop that does this stuff).

I put a very light scratch in the paint removing the dealer's [strike]free advertising[/strike] badge the same way you did. I figured between removing the old bowtie and putting the new one on straight and level, let them do it. If the dealer screws up, they can pay to fix their mistake up to and including replacing the whole tailgate if necessary. I am willing to do maintenance myself, but there is some peace of mind having my brand new truck serviced at an authorized GM service center that I know will make it right if they screw up.

For the rear one I didn't want to chance a heat gun. It was about 62 degrees and rainy, with the garage door open. I used 12lb test fishing line doubled up. Went through about 5 length but it came right off. Here is what I think is a must. My friend loaned me his old "ERASER WHEEL" It is a rubber wheel that fits at the end of the drill to remove double sided tape on vehicles without damaging the paint. He said it is only about $15 at a body shop supply store. I think they look 10 times better than the black film and it won't peel.

Or, spend the $6 and do it yourself. Not hard to do at all. Tons of youtube videos showing how its done. Was the 1st thing I did to my truck.

The only problem with covering the emblems is that the film will peel, shrink, or crack over time. With the newer emblems they are textured and the film doesn't adhere as well as the older smooth ones did. Spend the $6 and see how you like it. You'll be very happy. Then you can buy the replacements.

I just have bad ocd with my cars I don't like having to many neutral colors, I like things to contrast each other slightly. thinking about having someone make me a chrome one for the rear to match my stainless z71 one they made and a red one for the front to match the oem z71 in the grille but I don't know. I guess Photoshop over thanksgiving is in my future.
