I don't trust any fluid brand GM recommends as its all from only once source, low bidder Mobil 1 who could not get it right the first time. I had the dealer flush my '17 Denali 8-sp (no problems, preventive maint @ 10,000 mi) and I used AMSOIL ATL. The Chevy dealer had the best service dept (+ equip, GMC dealer did not have machine or knew of the issue) so I took my GMC to the Chevy dlr and I supplied the fluid. Used 16 qts (4 gals) to do it and charged $100 labor.

I am not sure what your problem with Mobil1 is, but GM changed the spec on the fluid a couple times to fix problems they themselves had created.

I hope you don't have any problems because you just voided your trans warranty.

I'm surprised that service dept didn't warn you.

Agreed, seems they are trying to dig themselves out of a hole. To get the trucks through warranty at least I'm guessing.

The whole thing sucks, I hope they do something to make it right to the people with trans problems.

Not if he used an oil that meets the manufactures requirements. You do not have to use Mobil 1 if the fluid has the proper rating. But with all the 8 speed issues I would use the stuff speced in the latest TSB.

BS, they can't void the warranty.

FTC
“The Warranty Act prohibits warrantors of consumer products costing more than five dollars from conditioning their written warranties on a consumer’s use of any article or service which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name, unless provided to the consumer for free or the warrantor has been granted a waiver by the Commission.”

If the Aimsol meets GMs requirements you are ok. But I really don't think it does. If it doesn't that is "improper maintenance" which voids the warranty.

I guess you could pay a lawyer about $500 an hour to ague for you in court over it. Or maybe get lucky and GM won't notice the invoice about the "customer supplied ATF". But I'm guessing they would look over the history of anything that was done that has to do with the transmission before they did anything else.

I'm not trying the be a dick, it's just the way it is. Like I said, I hope you don't have problems.

Anyone know if new 2019's on dealer lots that arrived about a month ago have the new transmission fluid in them or not from the factory?

And if not, would a dealer perform the service bulletin to replace the fluid with the correct fluid prior to delivery upon request?

Can someone please also direct me to a copy of the TSB, so I can provide to the dealer.

Thank you!

Only guesses, no facts - unless someone knows for sure and is not telling us on this forum. IMO have to assume not.

Two dealers I approached refused. At least one other dealer did for another customer. Your mileage may vary, but never hurts to try. I chose not to buy yet. The latest reported build date WITH the shudder that I have seen on the forum is 10/18. That does not mean products 11/18 or newer are clean. Just means we do not have info on these forums yet.
Good luck.

The newest TSB on the shudder is TSB 18-NA-355 which replaced the one you mentioned. Fluid is as follows:

Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP

US GM Part #
19417577 (US - 1 quart)

Canadian GM Part #
19418066 (Canada - 0.946L/1 qt)

New fluid can be visually identified as having a blue label. Shudder must be captured with a PicoScope before dealer will do a flush. Procedure uses a DT-45096 TransFlow Cooler Flush Machine.

Now I just noticed the OP wasn't complaining of shudder and just wants to know what fluid to use if doing a transmission service. I would expect they would use the same fluid I mentioned for any transmission service but I could be wrong.

Hi, I took my truck in for the shudder. The dealer is saying that they could NOT capture it on the scope, therefore they didn't do the flush. Where do I go from here? How can I get it captured or can I do the trans flush with the new Mobil1 fluid? Anyone know the procedure to flush it? It has an obvious shudder.

Why would the service department warn him about voiding his warranty? He brought the fluid, Amsoil, and asked them to put it in. They did what he wanted. At this point, the customer is showing that the technician doesn’t know what he is doing. Plus, that is just another transmission that they do not have to worry about when problems surface under warranty.

Sorry, Dude but GM can do whatever they want with the warranty, and you cannot do anything about it. See them in court and see how long your money lasts.

Good point. I guess I was thinking if they were "good" they would have.

When I bought my last Chevy I took it to have it checked for a tune, I wanted to make sure it didn't have one so the powertrain warranty was still good. The service writer was telling me to make sure I changed the oil on time too because of warranty. I told her I do and I do it myself. She said, well you better document what oil you use too just in case you have a problem. Well, I do now. I don't think she told me that just for the fun of it.

Bottom line, read the fine print on any warranty, if you think they aren't looking for excuses to void it you are kidding yourself.

You have to have the proper machine to flush it.

Are you able to make it do it pretty much at will? If so I think I would take the service writer for a ride and SHOW them it really has the problem. Then I bet they will do it.

I wouldn't let them get away with that BS.
