My charger is now working perfect 99% of the time on first try. I modified the underside of the cover that goes over the charging pad. Shaved the ribs off the bottom of the trim piece that goes over the charger, now the cover sits directly on the pad. Been working great for over a month now and it charges faster too. The ribs create too much space between the charger to the phone, causing a poor connection.

It's FINALLY official. GM put out bulletin PIT6098B acknowledging the issue on December 11th.

Based on what I saw when I pulled the charger to add my aux switch, I don't doubt that the phone may sit just a tiny bit too far away from the charger. The locating pins for the wireless charger allow it to sit slightly below the plastic surround that the flexible pad sits on top of. I would think that shaving the ribs or putting a small spacer under the pad would work. I believe part of the reason for the ribs is to allow cooling airflow to the charging unit. Anyway, we should see a resolution........eventually :)

I shaved all the ribs off the bottom of the pad and the charger works near perfect now, about like 99% of the time. The plastic cover is definitely the problem.

I have zero doubt that the problem was corrected with shaving the ribs. I just meant that the source of the problem could be two or three different issues and/or a combination of them.

I can get the same results of the wireless charger working consistently by putting a small amount of pressure on the phone when it's on the pad. I'm not really 100% sure if raising the actual charger slightly won't make a difference. Unlike the same units in other GM vehicles where the chargers are locked in place by screws, the one in the twins actually just sits on locator pins. I noticed my charger sitting below the plastic trim around it. This would physically locate the charger a couple of millimeters lower than the pad is designed for. Spacing up the charger to be flush with the surround (in my case) would provide the same result as shaving the ribs of the pad.

Additionally, in previous TSBs for other vehicles from GM, one solution was a software change to alter the output of the charger for compatibility with newer devices at the time. It would not surprise me to see a different pad design, a spacer or locator pin change and/or a software update.

December 11th, 2023 is when it was published, so it's been "official" for a year.

does anyone else have issues with the wireless charging pad? I have an iphone 15 pro and even with no case, it tells me it cant charge and to check for metal objects. It worked yesterday for a few minutes and then stopped. There are no metal objects on the pad. The truck is less than a week old. Is this something I just have to deal with or should I ask the dealer to take a look at it?
This is a new Service Bulliten I found today as I have the same issue. Apparently they are researching the issue but have NO answer. search "PIT6098B"

Or long story short, the iphone sucks and the charging pad is just fine. Works great with my s24 and thick case...
It is not the IPhone as I just bought a new one thinking it would solve the problem and did not. I did find this Service Bulletin that says they do NOT know what the solution is but are working on itl Search service bulletin "PIT6098B"

So an iPhone 12 charges just fine in the charging pad. It must be apple’s titanium case on the newer ones causing the issue but Chevy should look into that if its an option they are going to charge for
It is not the IPhone, search service bulletin PIT6098B that just came out. They DO NOT now the answer but are working on it.

You should let someone know as I just found this Service Bulletin PIT6098B and it appears the DO NOT have a clue of how to fix the problem.

The service bulletin actually uses the term “concern”, which doesn’t really confirm anything except that people are reporting issues.
it also says and I quote: "
Do not replace any parts at this time.

Engineering is aware of this concern and are investigating at this time.

Please communicate to the customer that we apologize for this inconvenience and that

General Motors is working on a solution for this concern.

Once a solution is available, this PI will be updated with additional details."

Well they’ve been aware of this “concern” for over a year now and it seems to mainly be an issue with iPhones (it was an issue with my 14 and now my 16). I’m not holding my breath.
