The ZR2 and towing

My questions are, lets say you have a ZR2 and just happen to have some stiffer rear shocks just laying around. Would putting those on increase the towing and payload capabilities? Would you have to do they front as well for it to really work? And if if works at all, how much stiffer would the suspension need to be to bring it close the the 7000 lb tow rating of the Z71?

The springs are what determines the payload capacity and towing capabilities as far as suspension components.

All the squish of the zr2 suspension is going to make it less desirable for towing. Specialist trade off. Itll tow, just not as well as a regular z71.

Youd need airbags rather than stiffer shocks, or a supplemental leaf. Short beds also have lesser towing by nature. Longer generally tows better

Yeah, what all these other guys said.:smile2:
This is just me now, but there is no way in hell would I want to try to tow 7000 pounds with any of these V6 trucks.

I wouldn't want to do it with the diesel either, although it might depend on what is being towed (boat vs. travel trailer, the latter of which is more of a huge sail in sidewinds). I like to have some margin of error, and besides power the other factors are vehicle weight, wheelbase and width.
