Haha oh yeah, it’s was an overall average of about 17 with factory tires, it would do almost 20 on a long highway trip, haven’t done a long trip with the Milestar yet. But I’m at about 15 now in the city

Sounds about right. Once we lift these trucks and put aggressive 33s on them fuel economy drops to 15mpg-18mpg average city and highway. Long highway trips can be higher but the overall average is in that range.

Picked up an OBDLink MX+ and wow, this is an incredible device that has so much customization and control it’s overwhelming.

In my opinion this blows the ScanGauge 2 out of the water and it’s only $80.

It also has access to all of the enhanced GM trouble code information.

I can display hundreds of gauge combinations in any formation/size I choose. Customize the min/max of everything. The device is out of the way and uses your phone as it’s display. Probably one of the best mods I’ve done to date.

Very cool! When do you get the winch?

Winch has arrived, also ordered a 30K lb tree saver strap and a smittybilt snatch block, going to install the bumper, skid and winch this weekend and I’ll finally feel good about taking the truck out again! [emoji23]

Awesome! You already have a few bow shackles right?

So for anyone that has been following @F8LZ71 build you noticed that with his DV8 stealth bumper and Smittybilt X20 comp winch the control box for the winch cannot be mounted in the two options that smittybilt provides.

Fast forward, I have the same setup and him and I have chatted for bit on this issue and today I may have solved it.

I took the provided side mount bracket and attached it to the box as normal, but instead of threading it into the location on the winch body I went and bought lock nuts and drilled two holes into the DV8 bumper and angle mounted it to the bumper itself. Believe me when I say it’s a tight space to work with, I realize having the wires I front of the unit and exposed to road debris isn’t ideal but the way the bracket is set up I needed to reverse it so that I can easily access the switch and remote plug from the front of the truck.

It’s mounted and feels really solid, we’ll see what happens when I bolt it to the truck[emoji15]

I dig it! Next time I have my bumper cover off I'll copy this. :)

Your setup really makes me wish I had gone with 265/70/17 AT tires on my Colorado. I read mixed things about fitment and rubbing with a 2 inch lift so I got 265/65/17s, but sometimes they look downright small when I'm parked next to a Jeep or 4Runner. ? Sounds like I could have gotten the bigger size but I'm not sure if that's possible with the stock wheels.

Really depends on the tire, the milestars are massive for a 265/70. I had to trim the pinch weld, had to pull the front fender liner back and it STILL rubs during some very specific positions but I LOVE the look. If you go with an AT tire I doubt you would have to trim at all.

With a 2" lift on my work Canyon there is no rub (normal driving) with the LT265/70/17 KO2. This tire runs a little small so it fits easily compared to something like the Milestar Patagonia which in all honesty is much more of an MT than an AT.

Good to know. That's why I mentioned AT. I see his was a massive MT. I would go with the Wildpeaks again because I'm very happy with their snow performance in Colorado. It's the best AT tire I've driven in winter conditions. I wasn't worried about fender or pinch weld rub, I can take care of that as needed, but I saw in your lift and tire thread you mentioned possible frame rub.

I have no frame rub at any position

Yeah same truck but with LT Wildpeaks it had minor frame rub. :)

How minor?
Minor enough that I wouldn't have cared to address it. My 2016 Canyon with same size Duratracs had the same amount of rub and for 30k miles nothing bad happened. Just a little missing paint on the frame. It was only at full steering lock.
