I am getting ready to pull the trigger on changing out my bulbs in my 2022 z71. I don't have the money to buy a complete set and honestly not sure I want to replace all right now anyway. My thought is, low beams and backup lights to start with. If I like them then I will go with the brake lights, cargo light and maybe high beams. I just want to make sure there won't be any issues with the computer and getting any codes when I change them out. Here is what I am planning on ordering:

Does anybody have any issues with these or any good or bad to add? I know there are a ton of posts about these, but I want to make sure I get the right bulbs and they don't create any issues.

Thanks in advance.

The Bulbs should be just like the "Factory" ones the are replacing
So the should clock into the correct position

make sure you re-aim the headlights after you change the bulbs, bet to mark on a wall where they are aimed now, and set the new ones accordlingly

I did not like the interiro led's, to bright/white, go to get out and have night blindness for just a bit.
no idea why you would have them in the brake lights, maybe to annoy anyone sitting behind you at a stop light.

I put 100% Lasfit LEDs in my 2022 Colorado and love the way they look. Unfortunately 14 months later I have had a tail light/turn signal stop working properly. It no longer works on the bright setting. So I called Lasfit. Guess what they told me??? "We stopped making those LEDs." I spent a LOT of money to buy supposedly high quality LEDs for my "forever" truck and now I can't get a replacement for the failed tail light. This is pathetic.

"I have had a tail light/turn signal stop working properly. It no longer works on the bright setting. "

so the taillight/brake light will not work when you have your bright headlights on?

Lasfits are not high end LED's, Diode Dynamics are and will back them up.
they will not send you a current replacement tail light? hmmmm

I just installed the Diode Dynamics SL2 Pros in my low and high beams. The lights are fantastic. However, I chose to use extended dust caps on my Colorado. I might have been able to make the stock dust caps work, but I wanted to give the SL2 Pros some extra "breathing room." Check them out. @Diode Dynamics are great LEDs.

I looked at the DD's but man they are costly. My kid has a supped up Subaru and he was saying that the DD's are top shelf, so maybe when I recover a bit from the tax bill I just got hit with I will give them a go. Gonna be tough to get a 200 dollar pair of lights past the accountant (wife), but maybe it will be a beg for forgiveness instead of ask for permission deal. LOL

OK, so I went thru and got to the shipping part. You have to be kidding me. I am spending 200 bucks on lights and they cannot give me free shipping? Wow.

One thing to keep in mind with the DD SL2 Pros is that they have a lifetime warranty. I've been to their facility and it's impressive. DD isn't going anywhere, so I'd not worry about the warranty being just for show. I wasn't crazy about dropping the $$$ for the lows, highs, interior kit, 3rd brake light, and reverse lights...BUT I bought top notch stuff that should last the life of my truck. The SL2 Pros are rated for 30,000-50,000 hours.
  • At 3 hours per day → ~27 to 45 years
  • At 5 hours per day → ~16 to 27 years
  • At 8 hours per day → ~10 to 17 years
  • At 12 hours per day → ~7 to 11 years
  • At 24 hours per day (continuous use) → ~3.5 to 5.7 years

I am opening a can of worms now, but do we really need dust caps. The old days there were none. My 2013 Chevy does not have it and a number of new vehicles don't have them. My bulbs seem to be working fine.I would assume since the LED bulbs have fans at the back, you would assume no dust cap would be better, because heat is able go away faster without the dust cap. At least that is how i see it.

Sadly it seems that our Headliglights are not sealed properly
So Air, Dust, Moisture can get into the main area of the headlight even with the bulbs in place
They should be sealed off by the bulb, the dust cover should only be added protection for the back of the bulb... but not in our case
Plenty of other headlights without dust caps that are perfectly sealed

I have put a 1/2 inch drill hole in the back of mine to increase in the release of the heat

Making the extended dust caps is pretty easy. After dropping $200/pair for low and high beams I wasn't going to take any chances. I want to not only protect the SL2 Pros but also the OEM headlight housings.
Have you seen thread I referenced in my prior post about how to make the extended dust caps?

This is interesting. My truck is a 2022 and with the Lasfit LEDs in both low and high beams, the factory dust boots went back on and sealed everything up.

I can't seem to figure out how to get my vehicle info as a closer on these messages. I entered the info when it asked me for it but for some reason it's not showing up.

Well, I bought the low beams and the backup lights from Lasfit, so we will see. I am hoping that the dust covers will fit without having to do any mods as my wife will kill me if I have to deal with that. LOL. Either way, I am going to give it a go. Seems to passenger side is going to be a bit of a challenge so I might end up looking to the pro's for assistance.

The LasFit will fit under the Dust Covers
There is a few ways to attack the Passenger side

nope, that will work as I did it on m 2017
if you are in a garage or where your lights hit a wall, put a piece of masking tape where the top of the beam hits the wall. then after changing out the bulbs to LED, adjust the headlights so they aim the same. there is a hole on top of headlights adjust with a phillips screw driver

Finally got to putting them in. Damn, easy install, but only if you try and put them in the right spot. LOL. I was trying to put the low beams into the high beam spot and was pissed until I realized why they didn't fit. LOL. Literally a 20 minute job and that is with struggling to get the dust caps back on. Now, when I go out tonight we will see how much better they are in the dark.

Trust me
You are not the only one to try to put the Low Beam into the High Beam
Don't feel bad
