Do you use the caps behind the headlights when installing LED bulbs?

I ordered a pair of S-V.4 led low beam bulbs from headlight revolution. They have a heat sink with a fan on it. There's a cap that dives access to the bulbs and probably prevents water from getting to it. I can probably get the cap to fit with the wiring but I wanted to know from other owners who installed similar LED's if they left the caps on. I was thinking of ordering another pair of caps and making holes for heat to escape through. Let me know your thoughts.

I think it all depends on if they fit, I know with the led ive used i was able to put the caps back on. I have seen were some people werent able to fit the caps back on and had to do a little modding to make it work. I dont know if there is a benefit to having them on or off, other then keeping the dust/dirt out. Ive seen people cut and extend them, but i dont know if its worth it.

I added about 2 inches to my caps and reused them, a pita to get back on but my housings are clean inside after 2.5 years.

I added LEDs for the lows and highs, had no problems with clearance for the dust caps. Without the caps or with holes drilled in the headlamp assemblies are no longer sealed from moisture or dust (obviously) so that can lead to problems with internal fogging of the lens, etc. I'd make sure you find a way to keep things sealed, don't worry about heat getting trapped in there, 55w halogen or 55w LED that's both 55w and the same amount of heat.

I don't have these, but wouldn't the LED wattage be much less, like on 120 bulbs? And wouldn't at least some of the heat be outside the reflector/glass container where the light is actually produced? The first would be a plus and the second a possible negative.

Correct, DRLs = low beams on at normal brightness, no other external lights (parking/corner/accent) on.

Read this threads posts. Tells the why is important to continue use of using a dust cover and a couple ways to modify them. Also, Canyon has a different, flatter dust cover than Colorado. But there are after market solutions for the Canyon also.

I used the Sealight S3 LEDs for the low beams, did not change the highs. They have a fan and fit under the factory GMC dust covers.

My low beams are on fully as DRLs.

I put on the aftermarket deeper dust covers to have more volume for cooling.About 6 months now with no problems or failures.
