Hi I have a 2016 Chevy Colorado z71 2wd with 66k miles on it. About 2 months ago I noticed that every time I drove over rough road or bumps there would be a clunking sound coming from under the bed near the back seats under the truck. I checked to see if any bolts were loose but there didn’t seem to be anything. I added 2”inch lift blocks to the rear but the sound has been there since before I lifted it. I’m not sure if it’s the drive shaft or the shocks or leaf springs. Has anyone had this sound coming from their truck? Or anything similar? Help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Spring slap is usual culprit.
Tighten U bolts and put rubber exhaust hanger O-rings around leaf ends.
There needs to be rubber between the leafs.
You are hearing them hitting each other.
You don't hear this when its new, but after they take a set.

I bought 1/4"x12"x12" sheet of rubber on Amazon, cut it into 4"x6" bits, and shoved one on each side of the axle between each leaf. Squeaks eliminated, even over hard bumps, but I still get a slapping sound. I'll probably put something on the ends of the leafs too and see if that helps. I would suggest putting the rubber between each leaf, the rear end rides so much better now. I swear it feels like the rear suspension is tightened up now and reaction is great.

2017 colorado here. Had the side to side clunking problem when going up my driveway and it was irritating me. I had already put additional rubber between the leaf springs and that did not solve the problem. Put the wrench on the bolts for the rear axle and already tight. Just did it this morning and used white lithium grease spray and went to every single rubber bushing in the suspension and guess what.... No clunking. If I was a scientist I would have done each one individually to find the problem child but I did them all and NO noise. Worth a try....
