This just happened to me tonight. I've a 2019 Z71 I bought new in June 2020. First issue I've had with it. Dealer I bought it from is 70+ miles away so will try a local Chevy dealer after Christmas and see if they can help. I can open and start the truck with the key just fine, but as others said the horn goes off and is a pain.
There is a seperate module that has the receiver and such. It likely needs to be replaced.
To bypass the alarm you should be able to park the vehicle, lock it using button (do not open door) then exit. You can then eitheir push down the pin to lock or use the key to lock.
That will prevent the security system from arming.
I wouldnt feel bad about doing it. The alarm doesn’t stop thieves.
Did you ever figure out the answer cause I'm having the same damn problem. And when i lock the truck, i have to unlock it with the key and the horn starts going off where i have to put key in the ignition to stop it. It's a pain in the ass.
This doesn't apply to all the posts above, but sometimes there is just interference. I've experienced that near TV transmission towers. In other contexts (garage door openers and alarm systems) I've discovered it when the Navy ships were in town.
Mine work, but twice in the two months that I've had it the fob has acted weird. Normally you can push the "lock" button twice in succession and the doors will lock and the alarm will arm. Twice it has failed to do that and I have had to wait 15 or 20 seconds between button pushes. The first time it was a week or so before it went back to normal and the second time it was only a day or two. Not a huge deal but irritating.
Yeah, did that. Left it off for an hour. After I put it back on, it let me lock the truck. Then, stopped working again. This morning it worked all day long, and now it's not again.
You could try the "fix all" of pulling the neg battery cable for 20 minutes or so.
