Well I ordered my Denali Black Edition yesterday with a build date of May 9th. So that’s the way I went.

 

How did you get a build date that fast??

 

I went through the same comparison, and decided to go Denali, but waiting until the 2024 can be officially ordered.

Only the Denali has a HUD; at least that's what I thought. For me, that's a big deal. The "Safety Seat" is on the Denali and AT4X, but not the AT4 (as far as I could determine)

Also, I like the slight interior trim variance with the Denali.

Everyone is different though...

AT4 can have HUD, comes with the technology package

 

I struggled with the same decision, because I wanted the Sand Dune paint. End of the day I went Denali because as you said, an optioned up AT4 is almost right there with a Denali price wise. In my research I noted a couple differences that I think most may overlook. Along with the obvious 11" DIC, the Denali has a Safety Alert Seat (vibrates) and another difference that I'll bet no one notices...the Denali has "Perforated Leather Appointed" seats and the AT4 and AT4x have "Perforated Leather Appointed Front" seats...so the back seat is synthetic leather. On the other side, AT4 has hill descent control, not available in Denali.

 

I am reading this, but not sure if it is true. "This is part of the off-road package that is standard on Elevation, AT4, and Denali trim Canyons, adding an ultra-wide track and the lift to create a ground clearance of 9.6 inches on the Elevation and AT4 and 10.5 inches on the Denali due to its 20-inch wheels." But it seems the Denali might sit slightly higher than the AT4

 

If you compare the tire size measurements (using any of the online tire size comparison tools) the standard 265/65R18 on the AT4 are 31.6" tall and the 275/60R20 on the Denali are 33" so yup, Denali should have a bit more ground clearance.

 

Denali for the full size gauge cluster, but I also dislike the chrome (fake chrome) accents so do with that what you will.

 

Yeah, I get that "chrome" isn't for everyone...but I am also kinda tired of the flat black being over done too.

 

I was searching used trucks, and went with the Denali simply because it had what I wanted, and I could add other stuff along the way.

 

I think the looks of the Denali improve without the Chrome side steps. Removal of the steps would be a must for me.

 

I will probably remove them too...unless I need them to get my old fat ass in and out of that bad boy, LOL!!

 

You prefer the interior of the Denali plus it has the 11” cluster. That would make the decision easy to me because those are probably the 2 factors I’d use in going Denali should I go with one of the twins.

 

AT4 all the way, to me the beige and wood trim in the denali look like they are designed to appeal to old people. If they start offering brushed aluminum and different leather colors then my opinion may change. For now the AT4 is the best combo in my opinion.

 

Hey, what are you saying. I ordered the Denali and I’m not old, I’m only 75😀. I ordered it in Harvest Bronze. Looking forward to see that colour in person.

 

I ordered another black Denali. I actually think the black and chrome compliment each other.
Was built on 2/13 . still sitting in a lot... Maybe some time in May.

 

I put some deep thought into both and went with a fully-loaded AT4. I‘m just not too into the Denali looks, it’s a bit too blingy for me. I do prefer the darker look of the AT4 grill. The 20 inch wheels look more street fashionable than the 18’s on the AT4. I also intend to install retractable running board when available, so the Denali running boards would be wasted on me. I will miss the Denali 12” IC for sure, but I’m thinking most of the tech features I need will be on the Infotainment screen.

I had an '18 loaded Denali and I removed the stock steps and installed the Amps. What piece of craps. They did look great when they worked. They began not going all of the way up within months and within 3 years they are basically trash with one side of the other in some partial state of up or down at all times which looks terrible.

I worked on those Amp steps tons, however the hinges aren't rebuildable or greaseable and they get friction in them which is the source of the problem. The fix is new hinges, which are custom for every application and run about $500 each. The manufacturer told me just buy an entire new system if I wanted to fix the problem.

I eventually bought some nice chrome steps that looked nice, were easy to install, provided protection, and had nothing to fail.

Now I have an F150 that came with the AMP steps stock, and the steps have been screwing up since 9K miles (I'm at 13K now).

I hate those f*cking steps.

 

I think the color combination on the interior on the denali is nicer but the exterior look on the AT4 is better to me... The brown color on the AT4 interior is too... I guess bright for me, the sand color on the denali accent is clean looking by comparison.

 

I was watching TFL, and they reviewed some of the screen options for the 11-inch cluster. This map feature is nice.

 

I have a 2015 GMC Canyon All Terrain and figured I would get everything I wanted this time around and went with a black Denali with a sunroof. The wife has a 2016 Camaro RS convertible and we really love all of the tech features it has like memory seats and the HUD, so we figured we would get a truck with similar creature features. Sunroof was an option I wish the 2 gen trucks had and was almost thinking of having one put in when I found their new trucks were going to have that as an option, so decision was made to get a new truck. I am 58, so like most of you getting Denali's, this is my planned last major truck purchase.

 

Cannot get the dynamic Blue with the Denali. Deal killer as wife wants that color. Wonder why?

I thought it said the 2” lift was 2” over the 2022. Not between models of the 2023.

 

I'm personally really struggling between the ZR2 and an AT4. I think the zr2 is cooler and IMO looks better, but the interior looks so much worse in my eyes than the AT4 interior. The AT4 is just classier. But that 11" digital dash is real tempting on the ZR2. I'll probably have to wait until I can sit in both before making a decision... whenever that will be

 

So with the Denali can you add the winch feature? If I decide to order it and install myself?

 

Doesn’t look like you can order the a winch from GMC yet. I think a lot of accessories aren’t available yet since they are so new. I want an electric tonneau cover but nothing shows up for the Caynon yet. The Colorado pulls up but not the Caynon. Hopefully in June when I get my Denali more stuff will be available.

 

An electric tonneau cover? Like a motorized retractable one? That sounds like a great idea actually.

 

what about the Elevation? is it kind of in between the at4 and Denali?

 

2023 GMC Canyon Small Truck | AT4, Denali, And Elevation. Looking at the site, it looks like the Elevation sits below the AT4, though it hardly seems like a ‘base’ model. I’d assume you could option it up similarly, though I haven’t tried the build & price for it yet.

 

This video compares Denali vs. AT4. It is in Spanish but worth a watch. Notice they removed the side steps on the Denali.

 

so both at4 and denali come with the same tires? at least in the above video they are the same

 

You can option different tires on the AT4 but not on the Denali.

 

That Denali looks like it just came from the Quarry lot!
