When I asked about my paint code I was told by a member it was 43U. Well this is not true. 43U is a the code for the light yellow. The Yellow you would find on the Cavaliers. Thank god the paint shop had enough sense to ask me if it was the light colored yellow. Once at the paint shop and comparing a paint chip to my truck we found out the paint code is indeed U5456 and this is the code that can be found in your glove box.

Acording to the GM order guides the sales code IS 43U other GM yellows used (not on the twins) are 52U and 34U and several fleet colors that don't have sales codes

EDIT: the **U / **L are sales codes the actual paint mix/application code is the longer number. Our TrailBlazer carries the sales code of 50U and a mix number of BC/CC U8624. The 50U code stands for the white paint as a sales code but the BC (basecoat) CC (clearcoat) U8624 designates the type and application method. A vehicle built in another plant could possibally not use the basecoat/clearcoat or the same paint application method but the color would still be 50U. If a GM plant in South America built a vehicle with 50U as the sales code but it was painted with acrylic enamal the mix code would be different although the sales code is the same. I don't really know if GM uses more than one type of paint anymore bit the sales codes also give the public a code to use because Chevy, GMC, Pontiac may all paint a vehicle the same color but have a different sales name, so regardless of the sales name if it says 50U it is the same color.

Does it specifically state Solar Yellow? It wouldn't be the first time wrong information was put out there. Look at the Colorado owner's manual.

Where exactly is the color code in the glovebox anyways? I couldn't find it. It's probably there and I don't know what to look for. I'm trying to buy one of those duplicolor 2in1 scratch fix kits but there's no "Silver Birch Metallic" and I can't figure out the color code.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't know when it was deleated from the glove box sticker but it used to be mixed in with the rest of the RPO codes and the long number ran across the bottom. Was listed twice as a upper (or main) color and lower (or secondary) color. Two friends of mine had mid 70's Chevy truck purchased new and one listed 11U/11L for the white solid one and the other guy's was 11U/71L or 74L for the red secondary two tone (can't remember the second code for sure) .---------------------------

EDIT silver birch show sales code of 59U touchup is WA926L

Yes, always use the WA#. Also make sure if anybody is painting anything that they know what they're doing, because even with my paint code they f'd up my mirrors. I took them off and now have to get them repainted.

Go to http://www.paintscratch.com/, their touch up paint is really good. I"ve ordered several times for my yellow colorado and it's a perfect match. They also have a chart there with every paint code for all the twins.

For the guy who asked, the paint code is the last 4 digits on that little sticker in the glove box.

Ok, my bad. I was the one that told you that 43U was the code. 43U was the one I came up with from doing a search. I should be punished. :(
