does anyone else have issues with the wireless charging pad? I have an iphone 15 pro and even with no case, it tells me it cant charge and to check for metal objects. It worked yesterday for a few minutes and then stopped. There are no metal objects on the pad. The truck is less than a week old. Is this something I just have to deal with or should I ask the dealer to take a look at it?

It's FINALLY official. GM put out bulletin PIT6098B acknowledging the issue on December 11th.

Based on what I saw when I pulled the charger to add my aux switch, I don't doubt that the phone may sit just a tiny bit too far away from the charger. The locating pins for the wireless charger allow it to sit slightly below the plastic surround that the flexible pad sits on top of. I would think that shaving the ribs or putting a small spacer under the pad would work. I believe part of the reason for the ribs is to allow cooling airflow to the charging unit. Anyway, we should see a resolution........eventually :)

December 11th, 2023 is when it was published, so it's been "official" for a year.

I shaved all the ribs off the bottom of the pad and the charger works near perfect now, about like 99% of the time. The plastic cover is definitely the problem.

I have zero doubt that the problem was corrected with shaving the ribs. I just meant that the source of the problem could be two or three different issues and/or a combination of them.

I can get the same results of the wireless charger working consistently by putting a small amount of pressure on the phone when it's on the pad. I'm not really 100% sure if raising the actual charger slightly won't make a difference. Unlike the same units in other GM vehicles where the chargers are locked in place by screws, the one in the twins actually just sits on locator pins. I noticed my charger sitting below the plastic trim around it. This would physically locate the charger a couple of millimeters lower than the pad is designed for. Spacing up the charger to be flush with the surround (in my case) would provide the same result as shaving the ribs of the pad.

Additionally, in previous TSBs for other vehicles from GM, one solution was a software change to alter the output of the charger for compatibility with newer devices at the time. It would not surprise me to see a different pad design, a spacer or locator pin change and/or a software update.

I have a I phone 16 with case. I have noticed that it seems to only charge the phone if it facing a certain way. If it doesn't charge, I just rotate it the other way and it works. I have another mag mount that I usally use as I can see the phone and access the screen if I need to.
