Seems to be several issues with Iphones and the charging pad, first time someone mentions a warning for metal objects though.
Just do a quick search in 3rd generation for charging pad and you have lots of reading to do.

It may have to due with the 15 pro's having the Titanium body, it is after all a lot of metal surrounding the phone. It does the same to my 15 Pro Max, I just need to slightly shift it and it picks it back up.

 

Does it stay charging after you move it?

 

My 3 week old truck has been doing it since day one with my iphone 13. If I take the case off and set the phone in top towards driver side and pushed all the way forward it works. I read about that position on GM Authority. Also, I bought a new silicone case trying to fix the issue but it only charges sometimes in the case.

 

Do they ever work? My personal android dont charge on it or my new iPhone work phone won't charge on it. I'll see if light up but that's it.

 

Mine works on my Android. Even with a thicker otterbox cover. For that matter, I throw it in with the holster still attached so It's not even laying flat on the pad.
I checked, and it is indeed charging the phone.

 

Long story short, the wireless charging sucks with iPhones. You can get it slightly better by correctly positioning the device in a better spot, but I imagine the 15 is worse than the others because of the Titanium.

For what it's worth I also get the "metal object" popup with my 13, likely because of the magsafe ring. Or long story short, the iphone sucks and the charging pad is just fine. Works great with my s24 and thick case...

 

My ‘24 Denali is the same, starts charging then stops and displays the metal warning. Noticed day one. Also the whole dash lit up and displayed every warning there is and went into limp before could park in my garage, the day I bought it! IPhone 15 pro

 

23 Canyon AT4X, just noticed my wireless charging pad no longer working as well. Great!

 

Iphone 15 pro here, and was having the same issues. It would charge for like 10 seconds and then disconnect no matter the position. I pulled up the rubber mat, and I could push down and wiggle side to side the wireless charger box. I wasn't able to pry it up and out, but I shimmed the sides of it with some cut up credit cards to stabilize the charger and has been working well since. I still have to put a pen at the bottom of the console to raise the phone up, and the phone does have to be in the middle still, but it's no longer disconnecting.

 

Thanks ill try shimming the device under the pad. I used a wooden dowel at the bottom of the pad to keep the phone in the middle as others have suggested but that didnt help

 

So an iPhone 12 charges just fine in the charging pad. It must be apple’s titanium case on the newer ones causing the issue but Chevy should look into that if its an option they are going to charge for

 

It is not the IPhone, search service bulletin PIT6098B that just came out. They DO NOT now the answer but are working on it.

 

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max. It doesn’t work well in my Colorado. It gives me the metal object message. I had a rental 22 Grand Cherokee and it worked fine in that so it’s a GM thing more than the phone.

 

Yea GM once again missed the target on the wireless chargers. Even though I have 2nd Gen, it doesn't work on my android or iPhone work phone.

Dealership bought the Denali back. I now have a new AT4 and the charger works intermittently. I can remove my phone and put it back and it’ll then work most of the time. Now this truck has the dreaded headlight flicker too….

 

On my 2024.. And Samsung with case it will charge if it is in the sweet spot. Basically centered.. If it Stops charging I pick it up slightly and move it slightly. Works pretty much every time. Is it a GM issue or just flaky tech?.. Not sure first I've tried wireless charging anywhere.

Mine is the exact same way….

 

I have a 2-month old Canyon with the same issue. Tried multiple phones and always starts charging then stops. Then it goes back and forth, starts, stops, and beeps. I just left the dealership and there is a bulletin out on this issue. It says engineering is aware of this concern and are investigating. Dealers are instructed not to replace any parts related to wireless charging until a solution is provided by GM. This bulletin was created back on 12/11/2023 so hopefully there will be a fix soon. Not a big deal, can just charge with the wire if needed until then.

 

I’m in my second ‘24 Canyon, 1st one was a buyback and the charger would never stay connected. Kept getting “metal object in tray” warning. The charger works in the second truck, built 6/24, still get the warning occasionally and I just remove and replace the phone in the tray, centered. iPhone 15 pro.

 

JMO138385 can you post the bulletin number? Having this same issue on my 2024 Colorado.

 

I've found three bulletins on wireless charging but they are all on iPhone 15. Mines a 13 and only charges if you get lucky enough to set the phone in a very precise spot.

 

Ours actually works great for our Samsung S8's that are in cases. Very happy.

 

Yep just bought a new Colorado on the 13 th of Aug 2024 worked fine for a week now says check for metal and I also have iPhone 15 pro

 

At first mine worked fine, then it stated something about metal. I added a piece of foam at the base to keep the phone from sliding and noted that the top of my phone should be toward passenger seat. Works great if I meet that criteria. Seems to me that it's based on location of charger and the size of the cubby. They gave us too much room for movement.

 

Totally worthless. I got mines in December been back to dealer 3 times already. I took a pen and put it behind my phone to push it up a little works 50/50

same issues here. i Just boaught mine last month its look like some issues in iphone. even the dealership service dont know yet what is how to solve it. Sad

 

I've had a problem with my charging tray sine I bought my 2024 Colorado ZRI. I made a small piece of wood that fit in the back of the tray to move the phone forward about 1/4 inch and painted it black so you can't see it. That fixed it until I had a software upgrade. Now it doesn't work at all. I'm told it's a low issue and that Chevy is "working on it"

 

I have the exact iPhone and just purchased my truck a couple weeks ago. Same issue as the phone will initially show charging then something metal in the way. I’ve changed cases and tried no case with no change. Did you get you issue resolved?

so does mine (defender case), even with the holster still attached so it is not even laying directly on the charger. I have more issues with a wireless chargers that I have at home.
To date, it only shut off once on a super hot day and the pop up said it was too hot (can't remember the exact term)

 

My charger is now working perfect 99% of the time on first try. I modified the underside of the cover that goes over the charging pad. Shaved the ribs off the bottom of the trim piece that goes over the charger, now the cover sits directly on the pad. Been working great for over a month now and it charges faster too. The ribs create too much space between the charger to the phone, causing a poor connection.

 

You should let someone know as I just found this Service Bulletin PIT6098B and it appears the DO NOT have a clue of how to fix the problem.
