I just sent an email to Launch support - Hoping it can do it. - Thanks!
OK. So, the Launch 129E arrived - It is a great scanner for the Price. I ran the update after unboxing and paid an additional $38 for the Chevrolet / GM / GMC update and was impressed with the scan tool as a scanner but I was unable to initiate a regen and or run the emissions tamper test. I think the 129E is only a diagnostic scan tool and or it is operator error as I could not find the way to use it to initiate a regen or the anti tamper test. I sent back to amazon and I ordered the OBD Link MX+ and downloaded the Gretio app for the I phone. Once the MX+ arrives I will let you know if it works for what I am looking to do.

The Foxwell NT301 is a very good bi-directional scanner for gas vehicles for ~$65.

Use it to reset and change battery type on my wife's 2011 BMW 3 series. ... yeah, for whatever reason, on BMW cars of that era, you have to reset the battery management system within the BMW system. And also can change from SLA to AGM. It's pretty over the top for a 12-13yo car... but $65 vs a $200 dealer visit every 3-5yrs ? Easy choice.
Is there a certain version of the NT301 that is bi-directional?
It doesn't seem to be bi-direcitonal according to the chart on Amazon. Doesn't state it either.

Let me go dig mine out and see what it is. I searched my orders for foxwell and that's what I ordered, but I feel like the date is slightly off on second look. Have only used it a couple times for the wife's car. I certainly hope I didn't mislead someone.

Does the MX+ do anything more than a standard OBD dongle like a ELM327 since it literally costs 10 times more? Isn't it actually the software that does the functions?

Nope, it's not just software and if you want to be able to use Gretio (the app for accessing special functions for the GM diesel, which this thread is about) then you need an adapter that supports GM SWCAN. The ELM327 adapters don't support this and are rather basic/limited in performance and functionality.

Thank you. I've never used either. Just wondered why the vast difference in price.

I Just received my MX+ and downloaded The Gretio app. I was able to do a forced regen and run the anti tamper test. Looks like I need a temp sensor and a new Heated DEF line as the heater 2 is not functioning.
Update - I just installed my new DEF line that runs from the DEF tank above the spare tire to the DEF injector up by the right front wheel well. and I Also replaced the ERG temp sensor located on the right side of the engine. I disconnected the battery and rehooked it up. All of the codes cleared and remained gone. I then tried to run the service tamper test to clear the 55MPH restriction using the MX+ and the gretio app but could not because the soot accumulation was too high. I then ran a service regen using the gretio app for about 30min until the soot accumulation went down to 7%. Reminder you need to be outside and with your hood open and exhaust pipe away from anything that can burn or melt. I then tried to run the anti tamper test again and it would not run. I then let the truck idle for 20 min and retried the anti tamper test. The test ran and took 15min to run. After it was complete it passed and cleared the 55MPH restriction and reduced engine power. I now can drive on the highway again with out all of the middle fingers for going 55MPH in a 65. I hope this helps anyone with the same issues.

Thanks for the Update
Gad that it seems to be fixed now

My 2016 Z71 started throwing a code and the 4WD would not function. I bought the OBD2 that is about $125 and it was able to read and reset the transmission codes. I reset it and have not had any other issues. You don't need a reader that costs thousands. It just needs to read all of the system.

I have a 2011 Chevy Colorado LT, 4 cylinder, that is sometimes shutting off when I brake at a stop sign. I’m looking for a scanner to see if it’s throwing any codes. Any ideas/suggestions?
This thread is in the 2nd gen diesel section, please start a new thread in the appropriate 1st gen section with your issue and question. Thanks!

I've got an Otofix D1 by Autel, does everything you need it to on both my Canyon Diesel and my Subaru's, Anti-Tamper, DPF rest, etc, etc. on the diesel, program keys, TPMS Sensors, read codes, read live data and more on both. It was around $600 but worth every penny if you really want to work on today's computer driven vehicles.

A recent update just enabled the ability to reprogram factory modules with the D1, but have to buy the reprograming software/file from the manufacturer.

It runs on Android 9.0 so the interface is a little slower than I'd like...if I were to buy it again I'd spend a little more and get the Pro (Android 10) or the Max (Android 11) just for the faster interface.
