Had these tires listed on Marketplace for a while.
A woman messaged me last Friday night and asked if I would hold them until Thursday.
I told her I would, and we agreed to meet at Lowe's (about halfway for both of us) on Thursday afternoon.

I knew that Thursday likely meant it was when she'd have some money. It's a typical payday.

As I was loading them today I got to thinking about those days when having to buy tires, or brakes, or a battery were so stressful, living paycheck to paycheck. There was really no extra money around for that stuff at all.

I decided that I'd see how it goes.
If she came off as honest and hardworking, then I'd make an adjustment on the price.

She works at a high school. She had three worn out tires and one leaking and worn out tire.

She brought her daughter along, I assume for some measure of security and safety, meeting a stranger.

I loaded the tires into her little SUV, and the daughter handed me the cash.

I handed it to the woman and said, "God bless you. Take this to cover getting them mounted and balanced, then take your daughter out to eat. It's on me."

She of course insisted that I take the money, then scaled down to me taking some of the money.
I refused and told her that I've been there, and for a lot of years, but slowly things got better and better, and it would really mean more to me if she took the tires and the money.

She said, "Well then, can I at least give you a hug?"

Yes you can, but you're still overpaying. Pay it forward when you can.
Thats awesome! It's really not that hard to be kind, especially when you've been there before. Hope you have a great day!
