Always a fan of Weathertech mats. Also Xpel doorsill guard on doorsills. Can you see it?

How to Secure the Weather Tecs

I bought Weather Tec floor mats for my new Canyon. I removed the old carpets that came with the truck, I can't figure out how to install the new Weather Tecs. I assembled the TechGrip III Retention Device but there is no way to secure them to the floor of the truck. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Gerry,

I assume you bought the custom fit ones? If so,...

I took the little plastic pieces, and assembled two of them around each of the "buttons" sticking up on the driver's side. Then I just inserted the mats and lined up those now enlarged plastic "buttons" with the matching cavities on the driver side mat.

I did not bother to do anything special with the passenger side, just dropped it in place. It fits pretty well, and a little movement is not critical since the passenger is rarely driving.

You may be trying to make the installation more complicated than it is. Think simple, like me.

Ditto - exactly what I did - just the driver's side and works like a charm...

These are genuine GM parts for 2015 Colorado/Canyon, and are described as "Weathertech style." There is a front + rear package available for $155 (lowest price I saw), but I bought fronts and rears separately and saved about $10. Both sets ship free from Chevy dealerships. Below are the GM part numbers with links to the items I ordered.

Fronts: 23343573 (2 piece) on Amazon
Rears: 23227120 (2 piece) on eBay

Fronts have the Chevy bowtie logo and provide excellent coverage. Front driver side does cover the dead-pedal area and, like the Weathertechs, there is a substantial lip on all pieces to prevent moisture spilling out onto the carpets. Very well made, heavy-duty feel, and absolutely spot-on, snug fit - no trimming required.

Haven't received the rears yet, but will post some pics of those when I get them installed.
Slightly better deal? I'm thinking of going with these as well.

2015 Colorado Premium Floor Liners Front and Rear Crew Cab Black - 23343573K20 - Interior - Colorado

I went with the similar GMC logo models for about $160 for all with free shipping from a GMC dealer on Ebay; they are usually $175 for the fronts and backs, but caught them on sale. I have the cocoa/dune color interior and no one had the cocoa mats; they were all black, tan, or gray. They look awseome and match perfectly. The GMC badge is where the Bowtie is on the Chevy models. I think there was discussion early in this thread about who makes the mats because they are a softer rubber feel and not hard plastic, but are stiff enough to stand upright and they cover way up the sides and over the doorsill carpet, kind of a combination Weathertech/Weatherbeater (Husky). My Dad went with the Weathertech in his Colorado, but they're not quite as plush feeling and don't have the badge (don't tell him). Oh, and the Xpel doorsill guards are a must, and complete the coverage. Just thought I'd chime in.

I got the same ones probably from the same seller.

I took them out of the box today and thought they were black. I started raising heck. My coworkers came in and said, "Naw man, they are brown".
Took them out to the truck, and they are a perfect match! HA! I guess its that fluorescent lighting or something :nerd:

I am VERY VERY OCD on things, so I'll be getting some double sided tape or Velcro to hold the edges against the carpet. Don't get me wrong, its a great fit, but I don't want to see ANY gaps at all.

The GMC logo is a nice touch as well. Looks like it's supposed to be there.

I agree, and on the OCD, too. I set mine in the sun to let them open up, then put on the floors so they laid flush against the sides. When the cooled they held the shape, and after a few weeks they stay against the side carpet. I can see your point if you look down when stepping on them because they squirm a little and will pull away, but mine fall back and look okay. Ditto on the color, too - I opened mine in the house and swore they were black but they match beautifully. They definitely add a touch of class.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one seeing "black" mats with for the cocoa/dune! I swore up and down they were black and the dealer I ordered from off amazon said to take them outside and sure enough they were a SUPER dark brown in sunlight but black under incandescent/fluorescent lights. GMC REALLY needs to change the picture on the accessories page. I was expecting the more "dune" or tan/khaki color they showed in the picture, not that! I emailed WeatherTech to push for the more tan/khaki ones. Those dark brown aren't going to do me any good being in construction and trying to limit the appearance of the dust! Somebody on another thread said that Husky will do a special run if you call and ask so may wind up going that route.

I purchased 2015 gmc canyon cc sb slt installed weather tech floor liners front and rear 1st week $197.00, we live on ocean kids always sandy, worth every penny
I bought Weather Tech for over $300 (including cargo mat and shipping) for my 2015 Accord, for the same reason. I go to the beach almost every weekend in summers. This has been the best purchase ever. Everytime I come back, I just shake off the sand, hose off the dirt/sand and it dries in 5 mins in sun on the driveway. Carpets are clean. Oh, it helped with snow too.

I didn't liked the huskys.

Check out those Amazon prices now! I will be ordering these this evening.

I have the GM OEM Weather Floor Liners and have been happy with them so far

Oops... Apparently I never clicked submit on this post. Found it in one of my many open browser tabs... :-(

Thanks for the part numbers! I was going crazy trying to find the 2016 part numbers on Amazon. I could only find the rears. I was fearful of ordering a strange part number for the fronts until I searched the forums and found this post. I just ordered the front/rear set for $140 shipped!!!

So after considering buying either Husky or WeatherTech floor mats custom trimmed to fit the new Colorado, I really couldn't justify spending $100+ on floor mats, especially the Husky that were over $100 for just the front mats. So I decided to look for some off brand ones that would suffice, maybe camo inspired, so I went and checked out Wally World and Target. Walmart had a bunch of crap and overpriced Mossy Oak ones so I skipped that, although I did pick up the Reese Sure Step things to protect my door sill.

However, walked into Target and they had the universal WeatherTech floor mats, set of 4 and they were only $50 so I bought them. Put them in last night and they fit the Colorado very well, I was pleasantly surprised. Co-worker got into truck this morn and asked me were those factory installed because they seem to just fit in with everything. Just a tidbit in case anybody was on fence about going this route or balking at the idea of spending to much money on floor mats.

Why not just get the GM ones from the dealer? They are cheaper than that and your dealer can normally come off the price of them a few bucks to help ya out. I got the Z71 one with the logo on them and they fit like they came in the truck?

Living in Montreal with all the snow/salt it was an absolute necessity to get the Weathertech mats. I opted for the DigitalFit FloorLiner (part #44751-1-3) for both the front and rear and they were worth every penny. I got them through my employee pricing at the auto parts store I work at so it was definitely worth it for me, and I'm very happy with them. They fit perfectly and look nice too, will be keeping them in the truck year-round.
