Went to the NY I.A.S. and saw the Isuzu I-350 & I-280. Looks like a huge rip off of the canyon/colorado. It looks like the only thing they changed on it was the gm tags. take a look...

How does this help GM in the long run?

Money. Especially overseas, and double especially if Isuzu puts a diesel in it.

ditto :!:

The Isuzu versions should have had the longer extended cab windows and the bumper-integrated fender flares like the ones from Thailand.

The issue is not what GM profits from the sale of the Isuzu pickup but rather what they lose or "leave on the table", so to say, for every Isuzu that is sold instead of a Colorado or Canyon.

They don't make the same amount of money when they sell a truck to Isuzu USA as they do when they sell it to your local Chevy dealer. Isuzu USA buys it from GM, markets it, advertises it, etc... and then sells it to their dealers. If Isuzu USA is lucky and actually profits from the truck GM only has a 12% stake.

Well, I'm pretty sure Isuzu is paying GM what it's worth to build those trucks. I mean, only difference is the grill. Just like the Canyon. And all the expense of advertising and marketing it rests on Isuzu, not GM. Since they're turning out the trucks anyway, I still think they're making a decent profit on it. Why would they care if they sell or not. Isuzu is paying them to build them, selling or not.

Postulate all you want. Fact is, Isuzu has to sell them if GM is going to be paid. If and when Isuzu actually makes a profit, GM will earn 12% of that profit.
I'll say it again, "selling Isuzu badged Chevy's is not going to add significantly to GM's bottom line."
