hello everyone! i’m new to the page, i just got a 2015 chevy colorado and i had a few questions that i can’t really find the answers to in my owners manual. first question i have is on the speedometer, the RPM’S part there’s a green car that appears abs disappears from time to time. i have a general idea somewhat of what it means but not fully sure. i notice when making a lane change it appears green, yellow, or red. guessing that’s for if there’s a vehicle behind me? if anyone can give me a full run down on how that light is activated and how it works that would be great.
other question is about the USB slots. so when my phone is connected to bluetooth and i hook my phone up to certain USB slots it kicks me off my bluetooth and doesn’t give me an option at all to play music that way. i thought there might be a source button but i haven’t found it? what’s weird is all my USB slots charge my phone accept the one under the touch screen by the aux port. not. sure why that doesn’t charge my phone. am i doing something wrong here?? i went to a chevy dealer today to ask and the sales guys weren’t the best help.. lol

You must have the safety package. The green car means there's someone in front of you but they're a safe distance. As you get closer (i.e. too close) it'll turn yellow or red. The lane change thing you refer to is "lane keeping". If you're between the lines it should be green. As you cross a line but it's dashed I think it goes yellow, and if you cross a solid line I think it goes red. I have mine turned off (there's a switch on the center console down by the flashers) but that's what I remember. It is NOT an indicator it is safe to change lanes. No Colorados or Canyons came with blind spot monitoring (sadly). Probably in the new version (2023 onward) at least as an option.

I think the one by the aux port is trying to play music off of your phone like a usb drive. I have a usb drive with mp3 files loaded on it plugged into that port. Not sure why it wouldn't charge your phone also, but that may be a setting on your phone. Regardless, there USB ports are pretty weak for phone charging. I would get a separate charger and plug it into the lighter outlet. They're very cheap, and you can get chargers that will charge your phone much faster.

Hope this helps.

thanks! that helps a lot! i understand the green, yellow, and red car thing now. i am still a little confused about the USB’S. the the one by the AUX port should charge my phone and play music? here’s the thing i plug it into my phone it plays music off my apple music playlist. but when i try to go to my spotify playlist it stops playing my music on that app. so the USB’S in the center console and the USB’S behind the center console and just charging ports? kinda sucks because mine is a 2015 and in 2016 on up i think they have apple car play installed in every model on up from there. i know for sure i can have my phone in the USB slot and still have my phone charging as well as play from Spotify

I hate to be a nitpicker but, for the sake of accuracy, our trucks don't have "lane keeping", they have "lane departure warning". It warns you if you drift across the lines without the turn signal on so you can take action. I usually leave mine off unless I'm towing on the highway at night while tired. Lane keeping actually nudges you back in your lane. Too controlling for me.

Yeah you're technically right. I just recently had a Ranger (terrible seats and trans tuning btw, worse than GM) and it had active lane keeping (which I also turned off). Had the wrong term in my head, but pretty similar. One will correct the other just squawks at you.

And I do the same. Mine is off unless I'm driving at night and tired just in case. Otherwise it's wrong too often.

Oh I misread what you wrote based on this.

i notice when making a lane change it appears green, yellow, or red. guessing that’s for if there’s a vehicle behind me? if anyone can give me a full run down on how that light is activated and how it works that would be great.

So, then you may not even have the lane departure warning, just the "distance" indicator. That would be for vehicles in front of you. Sorry for the confusion.

so reading about it, the green vehicle means there’s a car in front of me and i’m not too close. the yellow car means i am getting closer to a car in front of me and the red car symbol means i am getting too close to a car in front of me. the sensor for that is in the black module looking thing connected to the rear view mirrior?

Not sure which phone you have but I had a similar problem with the truck picking up Bluetooth while connected USB. I just deleted the Bluetooth connections and only connect via USB. this prevents the phone from conflict.
