Welcome to the 2nd Gen section of Coloradofans!

As the founding and premier tuner for the Gen 2 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon, we at TRIFECTA Performance have always done our best to keep the platform fresh and exciting - whether it be by developing useful and innovative features, by supporting aftermarket hardware from the industries biggest names, or simply ensuring the newest trucks can be tuned. We are always ready to deliver great performance for totally stock trucks, or for all those supercharged, lifted, off-road bound creations our customers create!

For anyone unfamiliar with how our tuning works, we develop and maintain our own software and interface hardware for tuning Colorado/Canyon and other GM models.

Developing our own tuning solution gives us the flexibility to locate and tune any parameter we need to, or in some cases, add our own custom code to the vehicles powertrain control modules!

We leverage this ability to deliver features like Driver Selectable Vehicle Modes, speedometer correction that doesn't break cruise control, support for the latest transmission controllers without the need to remove them from the truck (T87A, T93), and advanced support for approved aftermarket forced induction kits.

408788

Beyond the software, we also maintain and modify our own development vehicles. These vehicles are used to develop our finished products via a combination of long-term street and dyno tuning, and are also used to ensure we can support any of the many available aftermarket parts for the Colorado/Canyon. From intake and exhaust components to superchargers, we test it all and validate our calibrations before they reach our customers vehicles. This method ensures the quality and reliability of our products, and allows us to offer competitive pricing to our customers.

To that end, we have three simple service levels/price tiers:

TRIFECTA Advantage:
408789

If your truck is stock, or has certain modifications which "just work" and do not require tuning, you can simply plug and play with our "canned" tune. Advantage customers receive full customer support for as long as they own their vehicle. Custom tuning is not offered at this tier, and the price reflects it. It is a great entry level option if you don't plan to modify the truck beyond just the tune.

TRIFECTA Advantage+:
408790

If you're happy with the performance of your truck with our Advantage tune, but want to install larger tires, or different aftermarket gears, this is the choice for you! You'll receive unlimited updates for tire/gear changes for as long as you own the truck, at only a slight increase in price over Advantage.

TRIFECTA Elite:
408791

If you have any mods which require tune customization, or have special requests, our Elite tier offers unlimited updates for mods/requests for as long as you own the truck. There are no extra charges once you go Elite, and if you have Advantage or Advantage+ already, you can simply upgrade to Elite for the difference in price at any time.

Regardless of which tier you choose, rest assured you’re getting a committed and dedicated support and service team to answer your questions, provide recommendation on mods, and provide any assistance you may need before, during, and after your purchase with TRIFECTA.

We are only a click away via the links in our signature!

Hi, glad to see your post on these forums. I've sent an inquiry to your email before asking about the validity of "dealer tunes" and wondered if they were legitimate and whether there was any benefits of going that route versus your webesite. I was wondering if you'd be able to clarify for us, particularly in Canada where some places offer trifecta tunes in local currency.

Thanks

The Trifecta is the best mod you can do, night and day difference in how the truck drives.

^^^^^ that’s my question too
This is a quote from another thread.
Those results were obtained from our 2017 LGZ Colorado Z71 development vehicle with no other changes to it, so, yes that was tune only.

You can see our full dyno results (as well as our exclusive features) on our product page here: 2017--2021 Chevrolet Colorado - 3.6L - Advantage+

All tiers have the same power gains, the difference with Advantage+ vs Advantage is we also offer support for tire and gear swaps, whereas Advantage is for completely stock vehicles.

Our development truck is currently all stock, except for the Edelbrock supercharger kit and also, of course, our calibration, so we don’t have any concrete data to share on the CAI, throttle body or cat back exhaust system. We can say the OE airbox is quite efficient, but the CAI offers other benefits such as improved / reusable filtering, aesthetics and also sound improvements. Our experience with performance throttle bodies on other platforms is they generally don’t do anything power-wise, unless there are large increases in airflow needs (e.g. our truck might benefit from one with the supercharger kit). Performance exhaust systems may lead to small gains but our feeling is the primary benefit is going to be the sound improvement.

Regarding the warranty issue, we wrote an article about it. Our truck has never had any warranty issues, and the dealership had it for over a month diagnosing and fixing an engine harness issue. Having said that, vehicle owners should be prepared to lose their warranty over ANY aftermarket modification, including lift kits, wheels, tires, lighting, tuning, or lug nuts - even if the dealership themselves installed the components.
See our comprehensive article here: A Word About Manufacturer Warranty and Aftermarket Modifications

Yes it answers the question very honestly and truthfully.
Did you read the article attached in the last paragraph?

Last I knew from reading posts in the past not only GM but other vehicle manufacturers when there's a major or depending on dealership minor engine problem they now a days have the means to check to see if vehicle has or had a tune that was removed. And if has/had they can void whats remaining of your factory warranty. From what I've read it all comes down to if dealership wants to check if engine problem if have/had a tune. Example I've known my dealership and owner for several years and if asked them about getting a tune and warranty they would say they would take care of me and could care less. So I could get all excited and get one and be traveling somewhere and have a engine problem and stop at a GM dealership. And they might first thing check for a tune because it's there policy (you can't hide if you have/had one any more) and tell me they were voiding my warranty because I have/had a tune. So bottom line if your still under factory warranty you have to decide whether you want to roll the dice and hope your lucky.

Some have had issues with the CC working. I use ECO most of the time, the trans shifting is so much better. I have AFM in ECO and it's seamless, only way I know it's engaged is the V4 notice in the DIC. After 3 years I'm seeing 14/24mpg with 4.10's and 33's. I can pick up a few mpg in town if I drive very conservatively.

I am a SMOG Technician and the Smog Test system will tell if the ECU was flashed and flag it (Due to the flash count record remaining on the ECU), even if it was FLASHED back to stock, it may not pass SMOG unless the SOFTWARE was CARB Approved. What even we the techs are not completely sure, is that flashing back to OEM (stock) will allow the vehicle to pass. so far I have seen a handful of non-OEM cars fail, and have not seen them back yet.

MILLION DOLLAR Question to TRIFECTA; Is their Software going to be C.A.R.B. Approved?

So, this thread is basically an add for Trifecta.
C'mon Tri, three months? There are some good questions to be answered here.
Don't post and run. Yea, you get dog piled on in a quagmire of endless rounds of explaining and defending your product.
But really, this is a community, not just an advertising board. You gotta come back if you're gonna plug your stuff.

I have read a lot of comments about Trifecta tune for Twins, and based on these, I can reccomend there be more driving modes available to choose from. Sport is too aggressive for some and ECO is too lame for others. There should be more mid range modes with better highway overdrive shift points.
This, and the option for a mixed mode, ECO for creeping that switches to sport when punched. Stuff like that.
For guys like me, who don't have any shifting issues, thats what I'm looking for in a tune. And so far, thats what various throttle controllers offer.

Hi guys,

Yes, this sticky post is a paid advertisement for our company. We sponsor this forum directly, and many others, to help provide a cost-free community for enthusiasts. We do it this way rather than paying Facebook, Google, etc to reach our customers, since advertising this way directly benefits the community.

Ads like these serve to introduce us to those who may not know who we are, and provide an easy-to-click means for people that are interested in or have questions about our products to contact us directly via our website.

We answer many questions from potential customers and have even fostered friendships with our customers via our support system, but as has been suggested, community engagement is an area we can improve upon.

Regarding California's new testing, we wouldn’t expect any aftermarket calibration to ‘Pass’ the new tests that California will be administering.

The inspection station will supposedly be performing some sort of test to determine if the vehicle’s software is OE.

Having said that, we are pursuing the necessary certification in order to obtain an exemption to this test for the majority of vehicles we offer products for.

In fact, we’ve recently successfully completed the testing procedure for the 2011 and newer 4 cylinder turbo engines we offer products for (with a few exceptions), and at this time are working through the administrative process for the certification.

We will be notifying our Colorado/Canyon customers when this process is complete!

Staying with 31" tires and OEM gears the Advantage is fine. The + is for those who change gears and/or tire size.

From what I have seen online you should be able to pass the smog if you reflash back to factory/CARB approved tune and reset the readiness sensors by driving 30-100 miles. Right after the smog is done you can reflash your custom tune... and repeat the process every two year or until they change the rules again. All this can be done using HP Tuners and/or other tuning programs.

Some of the guys on the corvette forum are keeping track of this here.
