Indeed. And I defer to those above that actually have taken delivery to be most in the know. The video above shows him having to exert substantial pressure to compress the seal before it would latch properly. Do you guys (@wrankin, @GearheadSS) not encounter such compression? Can you determine exactly where the leaking occurs?

I'll test it and report back. Theres really two situations: 1) You fill it with ice and water, does the water escape? , and 2)will the material inside get wet if water is splashed external to the bin.

My plan for the tailgate storage is to toss the factory jack and lug wrench in there, wrapped in dense foam. I need to free up some space under the rear seats.

Curious, once you toss 50 pounds or more of tools in the tailgate, how well does the tailgate EZ Lift work?

Today we had 1.2" of rain in a 20 minute period. First good bit of rain since back in early May. Anyway, just checked and, its definitely not water tight. I don't have a tonneau installed yet, so my gut is the water will be cut down pretty significantly once thats in. But, completely water tight? Doesnt look like it. The seal is in tact, but even that has holes in it, which looks like its by design.

Glad I tested this before throwing any electronics or anything in there.

This seems to be another issue people are facing. Some are waterproof, some aren’t. The hole in it is so that the rubber can dry easier and not rot. When I take my order I’m going to spray the hose with some hydrophobic silicon spray and see if that helps….I bet it’s just not putting enough pressure on the gasket to make a full seal

To bad GM didn't make the storage area as large as the Huracan kit. At least they made it avaliable.

tht would make for a heavy tailgate, and one where the weight ban be all on the top portion, would make it even heavier feeling when closing, i think GM did really well on this cubby, it replaces the lost storage that the gen2s had under the rear seats, and one can keep items like straps and hitches in a place thats easier to access

I’ve been keeping a fly rod, rod and reel, small fly box and small tackle box in mine. Makes it easy when I get off work to stop and fish for a bit before I get home. I did try using it as a cooler once and probably will never do it again. It was a cool gimmick to show off to some friends but if you want to hold ice for more than a few hours in the sun, it’s not great.

My verdict is......

Save your money. The useful parts of this kit are the 8 d-rings, which you could buy at your local big box store for a few dollars. The dividers are sheet plastic and could also be replaced by any other sort of material you could buy and cut yourself. Oh, and there's only two dividers (which I knew when I bought it), making it almost a requirement to go cut 2 yourself if you want to divide all the sections.

The cargo nets might be the worst part; they barely fit over the dividers. If you need to hold something in place in there, it's probably better to just use a pair of short bungee cords you already own.

All that said, here are some pics.

The all encompassing answer for all variables is Duct Tape. You choose the brand. It will resolve all your problems ad issues. It's so multi-facted, you need not any fancy locking compartment, got a roof, hood, a door you never use & you're in business. Whaaa, I have to cut this. Whaaa, I have to do that. Keep It Simple S#&@p !

QUESTION: The compartment is 45 inches wide x 4 inches deep by WHAT dimension? I keep seeing the same two dimensions everywhere. What is the front to back measurement of the compartment? My father has a 2023 Colorado and expressed a need for a box inside the compartment because he didn't want his tools rattling around in there. THANKS!

Has anyone seen a template for the plastic dividers in the tailgate? My father does not want to spend the $ for the Tailgate Organizer kit so I thought I could fashion some dividers for him. We are 100 miles apart so I can just go over and measure them, and I want them to be a surprise. Thanks, Dan
