Slow to heat seats

2015 Colorado heated seats are slow to warm. Sat in my friend's 2017 and seats are on fire in a couple of minutes. Where do I begin to trouble shoot this.

Welcome to the forum. Try doing a search because there was a long thread some time ago and the issues were exactly as you describe.

There is a huge difference between years. I had a 2015 Silverado and the seats in that thing took forever to warm up. I wrote it off to the seats being heating and cooling, but the Colorado seats lack the cooling feature, so it has to be a different heating coil used between the years. Only thing I could suggest is to try replacing with newer heating units.

Yeah like @404 Not Found said, people here talked about this years ago. I have a 2016 Colorado and the seats heat up fast. Maybe it's just a problem in your year?
I bought a used CPO 2015 Canyon and had this issue. The dealership said it functioned as designed.
It barely got luke warm after a 20 minute drive. I traded that truck in at another dealership on my 2018 Denali with heated and cooled seats. What a difference. I chaulk to up to first year bugs of a new generation of vehicle, but it's not like GM hasn't done heated seats before. This was just one of several things with the 2015 that bugged me enough that led to the decision to only keep it for 9 months before getting the 2018. As expected, the 2018 is much more refined than the 2015.

Yes I recall the problem being 2015 only. Mine is also a 2016 and the seats heat up fast.

Mine are the same. A big disappointment. They get lukewarm after 15 minutes at best.
I did complain and they flashed the computer but it never really got any better.
At some point the heating element was subbed out to a more efficient one.
I put up with it due to lack of truck use in the winter but may be a worthwhile replacement to do in the future.
I should have complained more to the dealer but let that one slip past warranty unfortunately.

Either warranty (original or extended) covers existing parts only, not upgrading parts, meaning they will replace the elements with the same ones it came with, if they replace them at all. If there had been a campaign to replace the original elements with upgraded elements, then the warranty would cover it, but there was never a campaign to do so.

Being that both part numbers start with 232, it does seem likely that the higher number will be the new one. The current ones certainly get as hot as anyone could want within 5 minutes and eventually hot enough that you have to turn them down so if yours aren't like that, something is wrong for sure.

I've got a 2015 and for the most part found the heat a little sub-par. I did notice something odd (or I never noticed over the previous winters)
On my first run of the day, (seats are on high), it will go down to medium heat on its own after 30 minutes or so.
On my second run, (average 10-20 minutes later) the seats heat much warmer and I will have to drop it back a bit myself.
I know the dealer did some update, not sure if it was reason.

If you look at your paperwork, did they perform reflash HVAC code 992E3
This is part of PIT5383B which I got and just discovered today that it was updated and replaced by PIT5383C

Unclear in the description if it actually resolves the seat heat issue as the heater elements were also replaced at some point in time but may be worth investigating a bit further.
