Re: REVIEW: QA1 ADJUSTABLE Coilovers & Rear Shocks (MMP)

Got my shocks and installed them this morning. :D All I got to say is SSSSMMMMMMMOOOOOOOTTTTTTHHHHH.
I have them set to 4 clicks and the ride is better than before the drop. Will be saving my pennys for the coil-overs up front. Will just leave the drop at 3/4,looks great this way plus I'm lookin to do th 20" wheel thing soon and I couldn't find a wheel/tire combination (except for a rubber band)that would fit without rubbing. I'll have pics of my truck posted soon. Thanks for the great post,,,I would have never known about these shocks without ya.

AWESOME!!! I'm glad they worked out for ya!!! :D

Definitely do the coilovers up front. They will make your ride even more smooth! 8)

Re: REVIEW: QA1 ADJUSTABLE Coilovers & Rear Shocks (MMP)

Shocks were $292.78 from Naake Suspension, c-notch was $85.00 from http://www.airbagit.com. It's a bolt in notch kit, well built and powdercoated. I installed it with the bed on the truck. Used a sawzall and a cutoff wheel. Took about 2.5 hours a side due to the fact my sawzall is battery powered and I only had 1 good battery to use.
I designed a cheap cold-air intake ($4) using 3 1/2" ABS pipe that i'll be posting soon.
My MPH is now up to 24.8 average from 19.2.

Re: REVIEW: QA1 ADJUSTABLE Coilovers & Rear Shocks (MMP)

Front QA1 coilovers:
DR7855P Proma Star AL single adjustable coilover shocks - $152.95 each
DDR7855P Proma Star AL double adjustable coilover shocks - $275.00 each
9029-146 4" Stud Mount Conversion - $26.10 each
7888-110 SPANNER WRENCH & THRUST BEARING KIT - $45.95
*Request bottom bushing bolt sleeve 9/16"
So will these work on my z85? I used the djm 3/3 kit with control arms/blocks. Right now really needing something to help with the fender rub until new wheels come in (and be a added bonus afterwards  ).

Yes, they should work with the DJM control arms. The spring seat setting will just be higher than the pics of mine.

sorry, I meant what springs do you have on the front and rear. I have stock ZQ8 springs front and rear, with bell tech ball joints and 2 inch blocks onthe rear.

Ahh, sorry Bro

I have Belltech 4205 1" drop springs to replace the ZQ8 springs, Stock ZQ8 leafs with 2" blocks and AirLift helper bags.

Re: REVIEW: QA1 ADJUSTABLE Coilovers & Rear Shocks (MMP)

The 4205 springs are stiffer than the stock ZQ8 springs. With my last coilover set-up, they helped prevent the front from bottoming out. With the new QA1 coilovers, they seem alot stiffer. I have the shocks adjusted to 3/12 and it rides like a Caddy. I may switch them to 4/12 to stiffen them up a bit now that the shocks feel like they have broken-in.

Re: REVIEW: QA1 ADJUSTABLE Coilovers & Rear Shocks (MMP)

Mine bottoms out a lot on the front also, I have worn all the way thru the inner liner. I may try the 4205's in the near future. I have a set of the 5855 shocks on my s10 so I thought it might be worth the effort to see the difference. When I put the 7855's it seemed to be too long or have too much slack before I put the truck load on the coliovers. I have some pics comparing the stock zq8 shocks to the 5855's and the 7855's. When I get done tomorrow I will post all the pics

the shocks below are 5855, stock ZQ8 and a 7855, i think the 5855's are closer in extended length that the 7855 once the 4 inch extension is installed.

Re: REVIEW: QA1 ADJUSTABLE Coilovers & Rear Shocks (MMP)

at the minumum I need a spacer or different springs. I am out of adjustament to raise my truck anymore. I have the collars threaded all them way up and still need 3/8 of an inch more. I guess the Zq8 spring son the truck have settle some over the years. The ride is better, but I am so close to the bump stops the shocks can't do the work they need to do to help with the ride.

Ahhh, I understand what you are talking about now. The DJM arms are too low for any more height adjustment on the threaded part of the shock body. QA1 makes a 1" tall spring spacer that sits between the spring and the spring seat collar.

Part number 9004-110
