Nice dude. So what wheels are you runnin? Cuz like i told ya, im runnin 4203 coils with the 5855s and i've got the ride height maxed out up and i still rub on the tops of the front tires to wheel well but just like you said, on hard turns or inclined turns like driveways. I wish i coulda gotten a taller spring than the 4203s but i do love how it looks. So i've decided imma cut the wheel wells out in front and trim the bumpstops for a lil but more travel.

Dang, you have it on 7? Stiffest i've had it was 5 and that was too jarring for me lol. I didn't like havin my 3 month old back there so i turned them down to 3 and its a little easier on the kidneys lol. But my main problem is the truck bottoms out on front and rear bumpstops so ill be lookin at notchin frame soon.

So for the record, IMO i would not recommend a 4203 spring with the 5855s and 20s with a chunky tire. I'd recommend a 1 inch taller spring than the 4203s like Dan's got, i think he's got the 4205s right?

my 4203s are cut for an additional inch but im also running the 3/4" spacers i found/made! im running 245/45/18s, and NO bumpstops. maybe youre running a stiffer tire than me or lower profile causing the higher settings to feel rough.

i think i might be able to get another 3/4" to 1" higher and still feel safe about how many threads are holding the spring seat to the shock body.

the only reason im running such a high setting is to prevent the wheel rub. once i beat my inner fenders tomorrow i will lower the setting to probably 5.

i also agree, a 4205s would be a MUCH better choice for the 5855s if someone wants 2-3" drop, for more go i'd say the 4203s are perfect, but inner fender mods are required then.

well guess ill share my q setups as well. started with 2"bjs, custom perch/spacer and 2" coil from the pro kit. rubbed a lot.

same set up but with 2" springtech lifted coils on 31's rubbed a little, didnt care for the raised stance.

currently running 3" lcas, with belltech upper spacer and relocted upper ball joint on top of upper a-arm. small 1/4 tubs for clearance, running the 7855's or some **** like that in the front.

i also made a cap to extend the shock shaft thru the steel plate that mounts to the truck to get more travel outa the shock. i highly recommend the q's, being able to adjust your ride height, then ajust your stiffness, makes for the perfect ride.

i also have auto zone bump stops mounted to the lcas, with the stock mounts cut off.

if your going hella low static, i would recomend the bj's and coils. the lcas seem to limit toe in/ toe out adjustment. and you have to run your adjustment knob towards the motor

OK so i decided to play with the knobs today (no ****) and i think i finally found the sweet spot. I put the fronts to 6 clicks and the rears to 4 and it rides beautifully even with 2 fat dudes in front lol. Minimal tire scrub now, very happy. I think imma try 1 more click up front just to see, but its a world a difference from 3 clicks where i had it at before.

Im lovin my QA1s, everyone should get these.... i swear.

I run mine at 5 clicks but I also have weight in the bed.

How many miles you got on them now Iz? I ran them for at least 1000 miles to break them in at 3 then found 5 to be my number up front. Now, in the rear I'm running them dialed in at 6.

Man.... im not really sure cuz i got Ron's old cluster in there still so my mileage isn't changing at all. RUDY won't hurry up with my LED cluster. But i'd have to say about 1k miles. I've been runnin them at 3-4 eversince so i figure they're good now.

So I finally got my shocks on last night...holy crap that was a lot of grinding.

So I have an issue. I am running the stock ZQ8 coils on my regular cab with the adapter/spacer designed by twgiffin (thanks for the design). I am using it just cause I like how the spring sits on the shock.

After taking the adjuster all the way to the bottom, I am still at 29" and want a little more. My rear fender is 29.25" so its not backwards rake, but just doesn't look right.

Should I cut some off the coil? If so, how much. Any help would be appreciated.

On the stock ZQ8 coils, 1 coil is about 1".

The stock coils springs are soft so cutting them will make them even softer. You may want to consider getting some Belltech 2" drop springs.

show us a pic of the whole assembly. you might be able to run a shorter spacer on top, or yeah you will have to cut coil a little.
Sorry if I wasn't clear. There isn't a spacer at the top at all, just the factory mount. I only used the bottom as an adapter really to seat the spring better. If I had a lathe at my house, I would turn down the thickness.

Thanks DB. I will try to cut some of the coil off to get my desired height. Really, I am trying to get the ride height correct and spread this cost down the road. So if I can get by with the cut ZQ8s for a month or so, I can swap the belltech springs later w/o changing my alignment.

Thanks again. I will post my impressions after I get the alignment done and I can put it through the paces a bit.

So DB I took your advice and cut 1 coil off my ZQ8 springs, as I said, for the time being. I got the desired ride height I was looking for, but I really don't like how little travel I have left in my shock - only about 2"

So, now I am thinking I want to run the 4201 1" coils to take me back to ZQ8 stance, then run the ball joints. A lot more money, but it will give me back my travel I want. Right? Do you have any idea if the stock Z85 coils are higher or lower spring rate than the zq8s?

Please give me your .02$ before I make some purchases if you don't mine.

Thanks again everyone!

ps. with a 2" block, I am having to have my rear pipe on my magnaflow single exit reshaped to clear the rear sway...its rattling now and sounds super hooptie (spelling?). Just an FYI.

i would go with the bj, and the pro coil kit. the kit comes with extra spacers if you need them. the coil is a 2" coil. so you can go roughly 3-5 drop with everything installed. the more paste 3 1/2 the more camber issues you will run into. i hear ya on the travel. i extended the shaft thru the stock mount to get more travel. but suspension wise im pretty low.

and this is what was happening with my q with the lcas,

Wolf - thanks for the help. I noticed you are at 27" and I am at 28 3/4 w/o the ball joints. No clearance at all. You at least have a super low looking truck as a payoff...mine just looks sorta normal.

I will go with the ball joints and get the other springs. I saw someone selling stock Z85 coils on the forum and I was thinking I would be cheap and cut them to fit. I just wasn't sure how must spring rate they were.

Thanks again,

Red Rocket, which coilovers did you get? The 5855s or 7855s? I have the 5855s and have tons of shock travel even with 4203 coils and those procoil spacers. More travel than i'd like at the time since im runnin a tall 245/45R20 tire and rubs at the top before the shock bottoms out. I even have the coilovers maxxed out on height but im still really low. A taller spring may help but im really likin the way it looks low so im def gonna tub the fronts one of these days.

Yeah, if you have the 7855's it would be better to go with the taller spring and ball joints for the drop you are wanting.

Sorry, I should have asked which shock you had first.
