Removal of Chevy Emblem

Considering purchasing a 2015 Chevy Colorado Z71 Crew Cab short box when they become available. After looking at pictures of the Colorado for some unexplainable reason I don't care for the yellow bowtie emblem on the fold down bed door. Is there any easy way to remove it without damaging the Paint. While I'm on the subject I also hate Dealer Decals on my vehicles will instruct the dealer to not put it on if they want to make the deal.

I want the bowtie, but just hollow in the center, ie just the silver outline.

I imagine debadging is same as any other car: hair dryer, floss, googone, and elbow grease. But if it's got adhesive on the entire back side I'm sure it would be a bear to remove. Do it now, before it's had years of weathering to really adhere itself

I also instruct dealers not to put the dealer logo on. As far as the bowtie goes i use plastidip to black it out and it looks really good. If you want it removed it is just stuck on with adhesive. There are videos on YouTube showing how to remove it.

The OEM logos are always glued on. I've never seen one that was otherwise. Never seen one with holes underneath either. Basically, on a hot day, and using a heat gun, you start to peel it off slowly.. Get some glue remover for any residue, and you should be good to go.

They're just held on with 3M double sided tape. Get a heat gun, heat it up a little (don't heat too much or you'll start bubbling the paint), take a piece of monofilament fishing line and run it behind the emblem in a sawing motion. Clean it up with some adhesive remover, wipe dry, wax, done.

I find both the Chevy and GMC logo nameplates on the Colorado/Canyon tailgate too large. It's overkill and looks out of proportion. Have seen this trend with some emblems/logos on other truck brands as well. Maybe 'larger' is supposed make one think the truck is bigger, better, tougher, stronger, etc. For me it's too much and not to my liking, but probably wouldn't go to the trouble of removing it. As for the dealer emblems & stickers, I also instruct them to not put them on or remove them before I take delivery. I am not part of their advertising budget and not one dealer has ever offered to pay me to display their name on my vehicle.

When I consider this bowtie to the huge CHEVROLET emblem on back of my 1995 C1500, I find the bowtie nicely understated.

I am considering the Z71, and hoping for 2016 they add the safety package. If so, I sure wish they would leave off the Z71 stickers from sides of bed. The little plastic logo on grille isn't so bad, but I think the big labels on the side are distracting.

And I typically tell dealers to not put their logos on rear of vehicle, but some are small enough that it does not bother me too much.

GOD JOB and welcome to Coloradofans! I will probably do the same thing to mine when I eventually get it. Probably best done with a warm truck body. My present and previous trucks I debadged, then put on CHEVROLET lettering which were intended to be used on the pressed in letters on the old truck tailgates. I know I have posted pics of it before.

Other than the letters not being all that pleasing to look at they are difficult to polish around when detailing. Not to mention constantly snagging the polishing rag. I suppose as with most things this is one of those personal taste items. I do like it much better without all the Colorado lettering, however the bowtie doesn't bother me. Having options of changing the color of the bowtie can give it a bit of a personal touch. IMHO

I guess I am used to the look my '07 Colorado has. It has the truck name and trim level in the bottom corners of the tailgate and no Chevy logo. That's what I hate about my '15. The GIGANTIC bowtie sticks out like a sore thumb. I want to remove that and leave the rest.
