Is an interstate battery any better than the ac delco now days? They are roughly the same price in my area.

I was told by Interstate that they make some of the AC Delco Batteries
I replaced my AC Delco with an Interstate

From a build quality/chemistry standpoint, or a convenience standpoint ?

Build Quality: First one I'd say differences are negligible. Hard to tell for sure, but looks like interstate batteries are made predominantly by Johnson Controls now. Just like most other USA batteries... Sometimes Exide though. ACDelco is also hard to say for sure, but looks like mostly Johnson Controls with a splash of "Made in Korea" in some vehicles (probably a result of COVID).

Convenience wise... I used to be a diehard Diehard Platinum fan (even over Optimas) but with Optimas and Diehards being made by Johnson controls, nowadays I call my nearest auto parts store(s) and ask for the date of manufacture on their H8 AGM batteries and go with one made in the last 30-60 days. Warranties should all be equivalent around 3yrs, so if it's a national chain... and convenient... with a similar probability of failure... I go with that.

Northstar makes some damn fine batteries but are $$$.

I pretty much get whatever is going to be the easiest to nab a replacement of should I need one in a few years. Batteries don't seem to last like they used to. Granted we also have higher electrical loads than ever.

And as others have said... they are all pretty much made by the same 2 or 3 manufacturers. Each one may have a slightly different spec but chances are the sticker on the case is really the only major difference... AGM is a little more interesting....

The Everstart Maxx batteries from Wal-Mart are pretty decent (or at least they were), have good warranties, and you are never really that far away from a WM if you need a replacement.

+1 on the Odyssey AGM, but if I hadn't gotten the employee discount, I probably would have chosen a cheaper alternative.

I use this battery in my Canyon, been in there 4 years now, original gave up in 3 years. Agree, WM is everywhere.

Interstate are good they last the entire warranty. However, IMO, they typically die right afterwards. While that doesn't sound great, but it's better than the alternative of having to go through the hassle of exchanging batteries in warranty with some of the cheaper brands. Just put 2 in my 2500. I am near an Interstate warehouse so I always buy them
