Gotta be kidding?
Not only is it manual again, it's the exact same window. And there's going to be plenty more carried over because this is not an all new truck, but rather a heavily modified version of the 2nd gen platform.

I don't think I agree that they will never catch up, I thought the whole point of looking at solid state tech was because the power density and efficiency were orders of magnitude better. Could very well be wrong here as I hated chem in college haha. Even if they don't or can only get close, at least they will be much lighter which is a major advantage. (Though the 3rd gen is bigger so there goes your weight savings)

I think they should have invested more in the tech behind the original volt. Throw a tiny 1-2 cylinder in there (diesel if you really want to push it) with a DC generator and optimize how it charges and takes advantage of regen braking etc and I think you could have a very efficient platform.

Drivetrain aside I still bet these things will be way overpriced, but at least the Silverado's/Sierra's are also now way overpriced too so you can feel like the mid-size is worth it lol
Diesel Fuel = 38.6 MJ/L, 45.6 MJ/kg
Gasoline = 34.2 MJ/L, 46.4 MJ/kg
Lithium Ion Batteries = 0.83-3.6 MJ/L, 0.46-0.72 MJ/kg

Orders of magnitude better power density with SSB's is pretty much just a bunch of hopium. If they can be developed to last more than a handful of charge cycles, for something like Lithium-Sulfur batteries I would expect maybe a 30% boost in energy density over Lithium-Ion...meanwhile Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, which are a growing replacement for Lithium-Ion, have 40% less energy density.

Ok I get what you're saying, but all the other equipment is basically the same, that ECM/TCM/BCM ect is all likely variants of stuff that have bene in production for years. All they have done is make a software platform that enables easier communication amongst devices with more modern standards/OS's.

I was always under the impression that infotainment was one of the major cost factors in vehicles today, so making it simpler should reduce overhead and software maintenance costs no?
I think it's more about control and automation than it is about reducing software development/maintenance costs. Before Ultium, there was limited communication between the infotainment center and the BCM (BCM talks to the ECM, TCM, etc.). Now that is being opened up so that more features can be activated and controlled by the infotainment system, essentially creating opportunities for new revenue streams.

Take, for instance, opening or closing windows and doors on your phone from 100 miles away or activating a Super Cruise subscription. All those things that the articles mention Ultifi will enable are not currently possible strictly from the Android Automotive OS in the infotainment center (although some things can be toggled or disabled via Onstar).

Oh snap, my mistake. 🤣

So what's with these Pre-Runner and Overland Bars????
I think they might help push the brush out of the way so it doesn't scratch the paint job on the $65,000+ new truck? And mayyyybe to house a winch lead?

What’s the AT4X start at, that’s what I want to know. Don’t care about special editions. The current ZR2 starts around $45k so if the new AT4 starts around $42.5k, if they keep it under $50k for the AT4X I may seriously consider one. Would be in line with a base Rubicon / Mojave Gladiator but with way more options standard.

I think you'll be really lucky if it's $55K.

Think about the current price spread and then adjust for inflation in 2023.
2022 Canyon Elevation Std = $27K
2022 Canyon Elevation = $30K
2022 Canyon AT4 = $38K
2022 Canyon Denali = $41K
2022 Colorado ZR2 = $46K

Now add $10K to each because GMC nixed the Elevation Standard trim and told us the new Elevation starts at $40K
2023 Canyon Elevation = $30K + $10K = $40K
2023 Canyon AT4 = $38K + $10K = $48K
2023 Canyon Denali = $41K + $10K = $51K
2023 Canyon AT4X = $46K + $10K = $56K
2023 Canyon AT4X + Edition1 = $63K

Elevation is still there. It's listed on the GMC website if you scroll down to the trims and then scroll to the right. There's just zero pictures of it.

Per the Car and Driver website:

"According to GMC, the price of the Elevation will also be going up, starting at an estimated $41,495. The AT4, which GMC told us was the most popular Canyon sold in the last generation, is estimated to start at a more reasonable $42,495."
Ok I spotted it, thanks.

Well, I'm liking this a lot. More than the Colorado. Not blown away on the exterior, but I like it over the Colorado. I freaking love the interior. Every interior shown from AT4 and up looks amazing. I like the Colorado interior a lot also, but the Canyon wins it for me. I'd like to see the interior of an Elevation with the "High Elevation" package....assuming that is even a thing any more.

Cost is a big shocking. I'm going to assume that $1,500 for OnStar is already included in the prices listed...which just kills me. But it's clear to see that GMC is moving upmarket...further away from Chevy. They are still very similar in many ways of course, but GMCs are more different than the Chevys now than they have been in....forever?

Things to keep in mind that come with that added cost:

Standard 2.7T HO
Standard factory lift
Standard widened track
No base work truck model

I can see a decently equipped Elevation being mid 40s. AT4 being mid to upper 40s. Low 50s if loaded up. AT4X starting low to mid 50s. Same for Denali.
I think GMC ditched the base W/T and Elevation trims?

Definitely prefer the colorado exterior myself, the front grill is overpowering without the horizontal divide the chevy has and the taillights look like they took the wrangler taillight and jammed it into their fender.

Do find it odd the denali exterior looks exactly like the AT4 with different badges. I know chrome isn't for everyone but that used to be a feature on the denali.

I guess the pre order price smacks everyone who was hoping Gen 3 would be remotely close in pricing to the current ones 😅
Get out your cheque books out right threw the lineup
Yeah and they look great on Sierra, but lackluster on new gen of Canyons. Obviously, just my opinion.

:ROFLMAO:

I'm afraid you are mistaken. 🤫

I guess I just don't see what the tail light gripes are about. Unless someone lives under a rock, these look pretty damn close to miniatures of the tail lights from a Sierra...
