In my 20+ years of driving I have NEVER had a pump fail to shut off when the tank filled. Since I've had my diesel (maybe 1 1/2 months) it's happened twice. Most recently, I knew the tank was super low. I filled it quickly till it took 19 gallons then stopped pumping to allow the foam to settle. I then slowly continued to fill. It took 23.13 gallons when the diesel frothed out the fill pipe.
