Hey everyone!

I work with a new company called Course Motorsports. We saw a problem that there was no bolt in application cell phone mount and wanted to change that. We recently made one that is specifically mounts to 2015+ applications.

Check it out here:

It looks like most of you have gone the "universal" route, however having a bolt in application works must better.

Please check us out and let me know your thoughts or if you have any questions.

Cheers!

This looks fantastic! Holds the phone exactly where I want mine to be, putting in an order! Thanks for identifying and filling a pretty crazy gap in accessories for our trucks. Any idea if there are compatible products out there to swap into the holding system (i.e. the ball joint)? I'll be happy to use the magnetic on roads but I worry about the magnet's strength when off-roading for long distances over butt-numbing rocks.

Hi!
  • Obviously super-easy install. Used the left-side dash screw point to mount.
  • Really like the placement of the phone in regards to within reach and usable, plus not having to look way down into the console region to see something on the screen. Keeps eyes up and screen can be operated if need be.
  • Would like it a bit more if it was moved slightly to the left as the far left of the infotainment screen is blocked a bit. Not a big deal.
  • As suspected, magnet is a wireless charging problem. Phone referenced in this case is a Google Pixel3 with Spigen slim armor case. Magnet used was the rectangle shaped one placed on the outside of the case (initially inside the case to play with positions):
    • Magnet placed on very bottom of phone case works fine for charging -> this however puts the phone sitting really high when mated to the dash mount, which results in annoying visual obstruction and more susceptibility to the phone moving on the mount due to road vibration and any tension from charging/Android Auto cord being attached. Moving phone to landscape mode is not ideal for use and of course biases it to hanging off to one side.
    • Magnet placed on lower 1/3rd of phone case (and also tried in middle of case) does not allow for wireless charging to work -> this position however places the phone farther down out of visual obstruction and balances the phone's weight better as attached to the dash mount.
    • Magnet placed at top of phone of course is a non-starter since that's where the camera lenses are......
    • As such, have to pull the cover off to use wireless chargers. Slight annoyance factor.
  • The quick magnet attach is convenient and fast of course. Not a fan of how magnets ruin the clean look of a phone or case though.
  • Like that the dash mount doesn't really block the driver vent, even with the phone centered on the mount.
  • The mount is good to go thus far, just has minor attributes that different customers have different likes/dislikes. Enough good things that I haven't seen a more advantageous, easy solution out there....or created one myself. :)
I'll be interested to see how the off-road physical mount is implemented......pros/cons to weigh.
Thanks!

I'm very pleased with the simplicity of the bracket and placement it provides.
Not a fan of magnet, so I replaced the phone holder with the holder off this previous phone mount I had on my old truck:

The holder fits right onto the ball mount of the DirectFit mount.

Hindsight is 20/20, but the option to purchase just the bracket mount with ball mount would have been awesome and saved a bit of money.

Anyone interested in the magnet mount? ;)

A grip mount is exactly what I was looking for and the fact that it also charges is a big plus. Is this similar to the off-road physical mount I keep hearing about?

I posted this elsewhere and just found this thread as well so figured I would share it here. It is a solid product and easy to install. Magnet is strong enough. One of the cases I use is an otterbox defender case and I keep the metal plates on back of the belt mount on either side of the belt clip. You can see in the pictures the how the location does block some of the screen when using either the top or bottom plate on the belt mount. Blocks just too much for me so I will be using their location and mount idea and make my own or modifying the location by adding onto their mount just to move the phone away from the display.
