Absolutely. In 1/2 a second. Its VERY simple. If nothing else, all 3 have different wheels.

The ZQ8 has the 17" spokes, no front lower valance, and is the lowest of the 3.

The Z85 has the Z85 wheels and the front lower valance.

The Z71 has the Z71 wheels and the stock decal, of course.

Now...if someone messed with their Z71 or Z85 to make one look like the other, it would get a bit tricky.

Most of the time, the only confusing thing is the Z85 w/the color-keyed front-end, but then you just look for the valance.

You're not eligible because you didn't read the post, you just started a response. Had you read what he wrote, you'd see he doesn't care about the ZQ8, he just wants to know if the average person can tell the difference between a Z71 and a Z85.

Despite the fact that he doesn't pay attention, I agree with Chad, its easy to tell the difference between a Z85 and a Z71.

 

The grill sorround is the dead ringer, but I think the Z85 base also has the smoke grey instead of painted on the Z85 LS.

Oh and don't forget the great plastic skid shield on the z71. and the HUGE STICKER on the bed side and the Large fender flares.

But some do remove the stickers and some add the large flares to a Z85. It can become hard to tell if you also mod the wheels.

 

The most dead ringer is just the general appearance. My sister had seen a z85 and thought it looked stupid, but loves my truck.

 

I voted no, but I didn't give thought to the fact that I believe ALL Z71's come badged with the sticker on the bed. So I would have to vote yes, although I can't change it up there ^.

Other than that, I don't think the "average" person can tell the difference. Now a car guy or gal, that's a different story.

 

I think the big giant sticker that could wrap around Shaq's head is a dead giveaway, hehe.

Scary thing is, most people think Z71 is a sport/performance package and have no idea it means off-road... People used to think my full-size Z71 was "fast" because of the Z71 on the side.... funny thing is, a base truck with the same motor was way faster

Absolutely. You could mess with either truck to make it look like the other.

Granted, you're not going to see a lot of people "converting" their Z71 to a Z85.

I was going to make my z85 look like a z71, but I am having trouble finding the part number for that "skid plate" everyone has been so impressed with. lol j/k

 

Hell most of the people I run into either

1. Haven't even heard of a Colorado/Canyon or...

2. Didn't know there was a difference in packages.

or in a lot of cases...

3. Are just stupid oxygen thieves that aren't worth even talking to.
