Sorry if this has been covered before, but how do I find the build date for my truck? Is it on the dealership window sticker some where?
Any help. Thanks

I logged in to GM chat on the 17th. of January in the early afternoon because l knew my build date was getting close. And the person on the other end said "congratulations your truck was just completed at approximately 10:30 this morning". That's how l know my exact build date. I figured they knew or they would not have said that. So l believe it.

VIN Decoding

Ninth position is the Checksum or check digit. It is there just for the system to validate the VIN. That digit does not contain any vehicle info.

See the PDF file below for a comprehensive table of everything related to VIN decoding of 2015 GM trucks. You will see that none of the characters in the current VIN designate the month or day of manufacture.
Colorado starts on page 14. Canyon is elsewhere in the file.

One could only determine that from the sequence number if you could get a chart from GM listing the time that specific number was completed. I was basing my posts on current VIN info related to GM 2015 and 2016 Trucks and MPV.

I used the attached pdf to check my VIN and my vin doesn't agree with the coding. This is my actual VIN: 1GCGTCE3XG110????. From the chart on page 14 for the colorado, it comes back as a Z71. Mine is a LT 4WD. I noticed on my insurance policy that its also quoted as a Z71. I'm assuming by the charts, it should be coded 1GCGTBE3XG110????.

Any ideas? I've checked my window sticker, Window VIN, Door Vin and all documentation. The VIN states its a Z71. What problems would that present in the years to come and what could/should I do about it, if anything?

I may be answering my own question. I just ran the VIN thru GM VIN Decoder online at this URL: VIN Decoder - Chevrolet Forum - Chevy Enthusiasts Forums

When I run my VIN, it comes back as a 4WD LT. If I put in the B code it comes back as a Work Truck. So its apparently a discrepancy is in the PDF file? Sorry for any confusion I may have started. :)
