One of my SO's family members installed this after a crackhead chopped off their cat off their Mitsubishi Galant. Long story short, if it doesn't mount somehow to the body, they'll just take more pipe with it the next time it happens.

I think you would have better protection and spend less money installing a skid plate.

Do you have any recommendation for one for this application?

I feel like if they want it bad enough there gonna get it. Plus in Texas to sell stuff like that you need a valid Id.

That's the case with most types of security so all you can do is deter them, right? In our area an i.d. is required for copper but not sure about cats. And besides there are always unscrupulous dealers that ignore the laws.
