Went with the stubby, not issues for me.

 

There are a bunch of people that have changed their 2nd Gen antennas to a sharkfin model from another GM model... probably the same thing would work for the 3rd gen... just have to find an antenna that has the same connectors as what you have (which should be easy). Make sure you have extra clips for the headliner on hand when you install as at least one of them will break.

 

Yea the stubby works well if you listen to FM(which I don’t)you may loose any distant stations. Onstar not affected.

 

I had a stubby on my Gen 2 (2015) and now on my Gen 3 - works great!

 

Swapped mine on 2018 for stubby, but it was horrible (reception). Went back to stock & haven't found one that will work same as OEM. Those stubby's aren't all they're cracked-up to be - do some research.

 

Hmm true if you listen to FM if not there’s nothing else that changes.

 

FM & Satellite both were very on/off spotty & it was a brand recommended on this forum.

 

Sorry to hear that maybe you got hold of a bad one made. My satellite was the same and I had Spotify and there was no difference and I also had the recommended one. Plus even if you took the antenna completely off it would not affect satellite service. The antenna is just for FM.

 

While shopping for a new Canyon (before placing an order) I stopped at one local dealer and they had six 2023 Canyons sitting in the front row on the lot, this was back in September. All 6 of them had the antenna broken off and the mounts were cracked and broken as well. Right then and there I knew I would have to change the antenna if I were to order a new Canyon. When the salesman came out to the lot and I asked him about the broken antenna, he tried to pretend like I was wasn't seeing it, you know, like a dog that won't look at you when they know that they did something bad. Seems like a bad design choice for a taller vehicle that might even go "off-road" into some low hanging brush or branches.

 

Went with the Stubby. So far works well with no issues (FM - AM- XM). Just keep the ome antenna in the glove box in case any reception issues occur.
