I'm getting ready to install a couple amps in my 04 crew cab and was wondering if I could run the power wire under neath the truck and then drill through the floor board right where my amps will be installed, instead of going through the firewall? it seems like it would be alot easier and cleaner. what do you guys think?

Search is your friend - just run in in the boot through the firewall near the brake booster.

Because then you have to make sure that you seal it VERY well or else you'll have a nice water leak. Not to mention that unless you loom and protect the wire well it will eventually get damaged and short out.

i found 3 different ways to run my power wire through drilling a hole is so not smart and acutally if you think about it alot more work.

my wires are hidden you cant see any of them just got to take up the plastic it all snaps off and on. you would never know i had subs untill i started playing them. you cant see a single wire.

thats my two cents and yea right above the brake is the easy way

this is what i did, or my brother cause he is a wiz.
he ran the wires though the firewall. down the bottom of the a pillar, under the plastic at the bottom of the door as if it was closed, then ran a snake from the back of the drivers seat to the back of the passenger seat. from there, through the holes where the plastic tool box is in an ext. cab.

or you can cut a hole and push it through there.

i just didnt want to cut the carpet.

well i installed my amp this weekend and ran the power wire under the cab of the truck right along side some other wires. took all of 10 mins. I zipped tied it up drilled a hole in the back and installed a rubber groumet. clean and simple and don't see how the wire will be damaged b/c it's on the iner side of the frame and out of the way. the only way for water to enter the cab through the hole i drilled is if the truck was in water up to the bottom of the cab, which it isn't 4x4 so i don't see why i'd be in any situation like that, and even if it was not much would enter b/c the rubber groumet sealed it off pretty good. I tried to find the area everyone was talking about but didn't see it right off hand.

Water will splash up from puddles when you drive down the road.............
