Hi all, anyone know if GM puts the harness for radio control in the steering wheel?
I only have cruise controls on the left and wanted to add radio. thx!
I had a Traxx previously and they actually didn't have rear speakers, and there was no harness for rear speakers installed. Hoping this isn't the case for my 21 Canyon.

I'd be interested in knowing this too. Years ago, I had a Mustang that had all the harnesses pre-installed, even for options the car didn't have. For example, I had a coupe, but the harness for the switch to put the top down was there. The Ford guys called this being max-wired. I guess Ford thought it was easier to just have one harness, I don't think GM shares that philosophy though.

Nowadays they do not use one harness to fit all factory options. Some of the options that owners want to add later, GM Technical Support will no longer furnish the unlock code to the dealership mechanics that’s necessary for reprogramming the BCM.

Going to keep looking for the steering wheel audio controls the the 21 Colorado. There is OEM parts website where the whole steering wheel can be bought. There is a different wiring harness for truck with just cruise control and trucks with cruise and audio, but it is in the steering wheel and comes with it along with both audio and cruise controls if you buy the whole steering wheel. Question 1: is that the only difference in the wiring. Question 2: is it like 16WhiteColly says and it will require programing that they won't be able to do. They did programming on mine for the remote start and fog lights. Is there certain items that can and can't be programmed? I would like the steering wheel audio controls so I can answer the phone.

so would it be safe to say if i can get the cover off the back of the steering wheel, and look under the dash, I would see unused connectors that may suggest the harness is good to go. I watched a great youtube video on adding a heated steering wheel, so he had the heated harness present under the dash.

The things that they have to program for are controlled by the BCM. The heated steering wheel is not. I don't think the radio controls probably are not also. I added the heated wheel to my 18 Z71. You need a new wheel and the clockspring. There is a whole section about it in the how to section. The heater is inside the steering wheel. The control for the heater is in there also. You only need a power and ground for the steering wheel heater to work. I have added steering wheel controls to several other GM vehicles over the years. The right wheel is what you need.
