I received my 2024 Chevy Colorado LT, special ordered with 12K in options, paid cash for it on March 25, 2024 when it arrived at my dealership in Southern California. Exactly 1 month later cameras failed, 13 codes posted, eventually traced down to bad Radio Module. It was ordered and it was on National Backorder. After 3 months it finally came in and was replaced in late October.

And now, 1 month later my transmission failed in Las Vegas, Nevada, 250 miles from my house the day before Thanksgiving while visiting my mom. Check engine light came on and truck went into Limp Mode. I was finally able to limp it to O’Reillys by my mom’s house to see what the issue is. It has code P0776, for Control Pressure Solenoid stuck off. Now I know that it is a definite Transmission issue with only 8,030 miles on my truck. I then tried to get it to my mom’s house to work on contacting local Chevy dealerships in Las Vegas, since my purchase dealership was in California, 250 miles away. I tried to drive my truck to my mom’s house, only .75 miles away and my truck will not even switch to reverse. I can put it in Reverse, but only thing that happens is the engine revs, will not back up.

I first contacted Fairway Chevrolet, the closest dealership, only 6 miles away, and was told it would be 4 months before they could diagnose a transmission issue. I then contacted Henderson Chevrolet, 11 miles away, and was told they are not accepting any vehicles with Transmission issues, even under warranty. I then contacted Findlay Chevrolet, 26 miles away from my truck location and was told it would be at least a month before they could diagnose my truck.

I contacted Chevrolet customer care, was assigned a Case Number, and arranged to have my truck towed there since it is not even driveable. I was finally able to get someone to approve me a rental vehicle, because at first they wanted me to purchase a rental vehicle out of pocket, and then try to get GM to reimburse me later, after a month or so of being in a rental, after the dealership could verify if it is truly a warranty issue. Not an option for me.

After my vehicle was unloaded from the tow truck, they tried to drive it, and they duplicated my issue, and finally they put me in a rental vehicle. I returned to California on Thanksgiving Day, and was told I might not get my vehicle even diagnosed until the New Year, because they are so backed up.

And of course, once it is diagnosed, will parts even be available, or will they be on National Backorder.

Sorry to hear about your issues
Dealerships and Garages are very Backed Up due to lack of Mechanics/Technicians
And the parts that is a whole different story

Glad you made it home

Update on my transmission failure….

Findlay Chevrolet in Las Vegas, Nevada called me this morning (I live in California, my truck broke down in Las Vegas), and my truck was diagnosed as needing Transmission Carrier, bolts, gaskets, ect. Unfortunately, they do not have the parts in stock (no surprise there). So parts are on order for a transmission that failed at 8,030 miles ….. and no ETA for parts …

This is why I ran away and traded in my 2024 Bison after having it for only 1,300 miles. The brake issue I had, how GM allegedly "diagnosed" the issue led me to have zero confidence in the truck, zero confidence in GM techs, and a shortage of parts. My wife didn't feel save being in the truck so it had to go.

Good luck to you OP. I'm winding down on this forum, catching up on a few things and coming across this thread.

The part shortage is with all brands
Do understand if you lose the confidence in a vehicle it is time to bail
Hopefully your Raptor will treat you well

Something similar happened to my new truck, with only 200 miles and 1 week of getting the truck I had a transmission issue the service technician said it was a solenoid, they try to get the part but it was backorder for weeks, they try to change the whole transmission but it was also in backorder..

More than a month passed, and the part was still on backorder. I was tired so, I contacted GM to file a complaint, and also submitted complaints to NHTSA for transmission issues and to the better business bureau, but never finished the process with them. In the end, GM contacted me about a buyback offer, but I said I didn’t want that. Instead, I requested a replacement of a new truck, and eventually, GM agreed. After four months of the transmission issue, I finally received the replacement—a new truck. So far the new truck has 3,000 miles on it, there have been no issues.

Update on my Truck

I happened to be back in Las Vegas again this past week and called Findlay Chevrolet to check on the status of my truck, after my Transmission failure at 8,030 miles. My truck was just finished being repaired. Metal flakes and debris found in Transmission fluid. Upon further investigation it turned out to be a sheared Transmission Carrier. Part was ordered and installed, filter and new fluid, new one time use bolts and gaskets, and “My Blue Beast” is now back on the road.

It has been 429 miles since my Transmission repair, 8,444 miles on the odometer now, and no issues so far. Transmission Fluid Temperature while running with no load on the Freeway at highway speeds seems to be averaging around 194 degrees Fahrenheit, no issues shifting gears, and happy to have my truck back again in my garage.

Keeping my fingers crossed that another gremlin in my truck has been put to rest for good …..
