Charging the battery fixed the update failure.

Now that it's been installed a few days, we're getting more updates. I guess enabling auto updates and installing the update to fix updates has unclogged the update pipe.

We're getting N242452130 now, the OTA injector reprogramming update.

I got that one done at the dealer last month, they started to text me about it the month before. According to them, it was a recall, not an update, if that really makes a difference.
Still have not turned on updates and I know my battery is lower thatn their threshold.. no ota for me

I believe part of the reason I do not receive updates is because my truck sits for so long without use. My Trail Boss is 2 years old and only has 11,000 miles on it. It spends most of it's time sitting in the garage and the battery just drains while it's sitting due to all the tech constantly pulling power from the battery. I try and throw a charger on it during the week, but I probably need to do it more often. Who knows... I had that injector update performed at the dealership so I probably won't see another update for awhile.

My '23 was in to the dealer about 2 weeks ago for the module recall. It took 4-5 days to reflect that the recall had been performed, making me think it hadn't been. I have not seen an OTA software update, but maybe eventually? I have the system set to auto, but when I check it tells me that there is nothing available.

I got the multiple module update done at the dealer January of 2024 and haven't been prompted for a OTA update since. Every time I check for updates it says none available.

I also had the injector recall installed by the dealer. The update still came up and installed for me regardless. Unclear if it's a second attempt, more refined fix, or it just forces to install even if the recall was already completed.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, if you have automatic updates turned off you will never receive updates. The manual check for updates doesn't do anything.
I'll have to take a picture of it but ever since the MM update the only option's are "download updates in the background" which I have set to off, and "download updates when connected to wifi" which I switched to on, two weeks ago.

Sorry, it's the "Download updates automatically in the background".

Without this setting enabled, updates will never work. Even with it enabled, the manual update check seems useless, the only way it seems the updates will work is if the truck downloads them in the background and then prompts you whenever it feels like.

That is my debate, especially after reading all the issues and bricked trucks in 2023, my logic was to keep it off and then check / install on my terms. Did not trust or want to be in the position of problems away from home. Must have checked for updates at least 6 times periodically ( nothing ).
I also don't go for good drives over 30 minutes regularly so battery can't be 100%, no problems starting.
What to do, what to do? Dunno

It doesn't say "automatically".
The idea of it potentially doing something without my knowledge is why I didn't think it was a good idea of selecting it.
Who knows.

Ok.. whst would be the definition of wifi ? I have never connected any vehicle to my home wifi, but my truck still has a data plan included. Would the truck see my data as equivalent to wifi. Confused 🤔

I had them both off and didn't get any updates so figured I'd try something different.
It will tell you if you need one, it just won't do it automatically and brick your truck, like it did mine when the setting got turned on by the dealer without my knowledge. As it did to many others too.

I saw this thread and got really excited, but at the same time I also thought well my 2023 GMC Canyon Denali will never get an over the air update. 2+ years into ownership and never even hinted at trying to download one.
Well I'm SUPER HAPPY to say that as I pulled into my driveway today (9/3/2025) and placed my truck into park I nearly dropped my phone trying to take a picture of the screen as it said there was an update waiting to be installed!!!! I hit the "install" button and about 5-ish minutes later the update installed successfully. I'm not sure what's new, but I'm just over the moon that my truck actually got an over the air update!
I don't know if I'm dreaming or if I seriously just got a second update within less than a month!?!? GM did your software team finally wake up? I was shocked, but pleasantly surprised to see another update come in today (and it installed successfully in about 5ish minutes).

I purchased my Traill Boss in August of 2023, and since then I have never received an OTA update. I started making it a habit to schedule a service appointment once a year just so the software can be checked and updated as needed. This was the only way I could get everything up-to-date. I know others in this forum have had the same experience as me with their 2023's, so hopefully this will provide some hope for you all.

I thought my truck was cursed and not worthy of updates, but yesterday after pulling into my garage it notified me update "N25-165AN" was ready to be installed. I was honestly excited (the curse has been lifted!!), but quickly disappointed when I returned to the vehicle 20min later just to find out the update failed. Ugh... I'll try again tomorrow and also scheduled a service appointment so they can update any software.

Like others have mentioned in other threads, maybe the power cube needed more juice. So I plugged in my Noco 5A charger and let it charge for a few hours. I tried again later this afternoon and it completed successfully!

I have seen other threads where others mentioned they have received update N25- F17???, so I assume more are on their way?? Probably not though, and I am still going to follow through with my service appointment anyways.

Just curious of the 2023 guys who have recently got updates... How did you have these configured?
