2015 Colorado Door Panels

For those that don't have their trucks yet, or those that are looking for what the door panels might look like, here are mine from a Z71 Colorado CC LB 4x4. Personally, I find them absolutely useless compared to the 2012 Nissan Frontier I traded in. In that vehicle you could easily fit a Camelback water bottle in the door, plenty of junk, and a 64 ounce Nalgene in the center cup holders. I find it difficult to put almost anything in these "pockets." And to the designer that thought it was a good idea to ANGLE the bottle holder areas...what...were...you...thinking?

Really do like my truck, but there are some design "features" that could have used a little more thought with real world props such as the ubiquitous water bottle.

I agree. The only thing I keep in that tiny door pocket is my Smith & Wesson 380 bodyguard. It fills up the top pocket. Lol.

Totally agree the door panels are useless for storing stuff. I would like to know what was the critirea for this design. The placement and size of the plastic under the little dinky pockets is horrible. So much wasted space. I wish GM would hire an interior designer from Honda to help themselves out.

Maybe I am missing something, so perhaps GM should publish a guide of what they think I should be using these pockets for.

Also waiting for an after market solution to the giant cave under the center armrest.

Thanks Carlos I wondered where my Bodyguard would fit, will not receive my truck until next week as the train has "rested" in Cheyenne Wy for many days. :(

Despite having read all the negative comments about the angled water bottle holder it's working fine for me. I keep a water bottle on the passenger side and a bottle of hand sanitizer on the driver's side. Both kind of lock into place and don't wobble or bounce when I open and shut doors. As for the other pockets, not so great.

I wonder if an aftermarket vendor will ever offer replacement door panels? Anybody could design them better than GM did....the water bottle thing is odd being angled and all but the two pockets are absolutely a waste of space, totally worthless!

Has anyone figured out how to remove the 2015 door panels?

Posts #11-15.... I didn't start a new thread. at least, I didn't think I did :).

Edit: nevermind. I see what I did. I commented in the door panel thread after failing to find a removal thread with the search function, but there was one, and you moved it there. Gotcha.

Humm...

I must be crazy then.
Pretty sure you made a new thread since the post above you is from back in April, then you which I quoted as being merged.

Either way your question was answered.

Been car shopping lately, the truck makes my Eclipse seem outdated, though it's still fun to drive.
Test drove a Subaru WRX and their pockets seem to be somewhat similar to ours with the water bottle holder. Other vehicle pictures I've seen also have the water bottle holder in the door panel.
The door panels are probably a response to customers asking for something to hold all their water bottles. Noticed my hunting partner always shows up for golf with two or three bottles of water/soda and his travel mug.
I'd guess there are many people who want to bring along two or three water bottles on any trip they take and they've written often enough the car makers are responding.

it has only been a day, but yeah, the lack of storage on the door panels is my biggest complaint (and really only complaint) so far. I would definitely be interested in aftermarket replacements if such a beast existed.

I'm really not getting this thread, or the problem with pockets on doors. Why would you try to cram stuff in your doors when you have a whole truck to keep stuff in? In most of the cars I ever owned, the doors were just a flat panel. How much stuff do you really need to put in your door panels? In my 2007 Colorado, I have never put anything in the door panels. In my 2004 Colorado, I have never put anything in my door panels. In my 2 S10's before that, they didn't have door panels. I put one bottle of water in the cup holder and everything else somewhere else. Why would you put rags in the door panel of a brand new truck? Just asking because I don't understand this one and I have been traveling on the road my whole life. From Rhode Island to Key West, to Kansas City. All up and down the East Coast and out West, and I guaranty, more than most of you here will ever travel. And I have no reason to use those small pockets in my door. Nor, would I want to.? Maybe a map in the old days. What's with the door panels? How big should they be? Do you put your groceries in there? I wish they were a smooth soft panel of the the material above them, like in the old days. A much nicer look and feel. You put your crap in the back. No?

I'm your polar opposite. I live 2.5 miles from work and use the door pockets constantly. My current DD is a VW GTI. The door pockets are gargantuan.

It's either a personal preference thing, or the usability of the panels in my past/current vehicles has shown their utility.
Before my last few vehicles I swore seat heaters were for wimps. Now that I have them, I refuse to buy a vehicle without them.

I think the problem is that the door panel pockets appear usable, however store absolutely no volume. To me it would actually be preferable to completely leave them off the doors than to produce the half hearted attempt they finished with.

And what do you usually cram them with? I drive very long trips and never use them. Maybe I'm missing out on something?

If they could hold a refrigerated six pack, for my next stop, then I'm there with you! What do people need to cram in their truck? I don't get it. A bag of potato chips? Cheetos? What?

So, let's have it people. You are all complaining about this one. What do you try to cram into your door panels? And what won't fit because they are too small? And don't tell me gloves, because they fit just fine.

A clipboard in your door??? I carry a whole brief case with my clip board and estimate write up. There is no way that would fit in any front door of any vehicle ever made.

Gloves fit just fine. I usually throw them on the passenger floor so they get some heat. Gloves fit

Next? I'm waiting for the big stuff you put in your door that doesn't fit?

Wrong place to put your gloves. Why would you put your dirty gloves in your brand new door? Put them on the floor and keep your truck clean. Man! Next!

Wrong place to put his gloves in his truck? :clueless
I'm not sure that's your call to make.

We get it, you don't use them. Can we move on?

What do I use them for? Whatever I'm holding when I get into the drivers seat. I place something in there, with no exaggeration, 75% of the time I'm driving.

A large water bottle is with me almost constantly. My current door pockets hold a bigger bottle than my cup holders. My cell phone is an extremely common passenger, as is my wallet. Currently I have an umbrella there as it's been raining pretty regularly.
These fit at the same time, without sitting on top of one another, easy access.
