Has anyone done an oil change with a metal pan? I’m looking for the crush washer that goes along with it. I contacted a parts department and even for the metal one it gives them the rubber o ring even for the metal pan. The metal and plastic pans are calling for the same rubber o ring which doesn’t sound right to me.

Also GM uses the same part number interchangeably, so 12732388 brings up the plastic pan even though it’s the part number from the picture with the metal pan.

makes me wonder what dealerships are using during oil changes and how people haven't reported leaks yet with metal pans

This was addressed in another thread, the metal pan drain plugs use a different O-ring which is reusable. Same style has been used for decades.

my comment still stands bc OP said "I contacted a parts department and even for the metal one it gives them the rubber o ring even for the metal pan. The metal and plastic pans are calling for the same rubber o ring which doesn’t sound right to me "

you say different o rings. gm says same one.

No, it doesn't still stand. All you have to do is look at the drain plug in post #38 in this very thread (2.7L L3B Turbo - plastic oil pan) to tell with your own eyes that the parts department either has no idea what they're talking about or the parts database hasn't been updated yet.

They absolutely do not use the same O-ring.

I believe drax is right. I’ll post an update when I do my oil change in a few weeks.

I verified that the oil pan is plastic.

GM metal oil pan part number for the 2.7L is 1273-2388. 2.7L turbo, 2nd design. Replaces part number: 12728544.
Make sure to tell your GM parts guy you want the metal pan.
You will also need 10-2006 RTV.
This also moves the oil drain to the corner and has a threaded oil drain plug.

Yet still no thread specs for that metal plug…
I looked up a Fumoto valve for a 2020 Silverado with the 2.7L engine. It specs M12-1.75 thread. I have one in hand so guess I'll find out. I'll report back when I change the oil, probably next week.

Their site shows the same four for the ‘23 Colorado too. I recall another member already tried one of those M12s and said it was way too big. I did a search on the part number for the oem metal Colorado plug….the Cadillac CT5 3.0L uses the same plug. Rock Auto doesn’t list the metal plug for the Colorado or Cadillac, but they do list the pan for the Caddy, and the pan Info specs say the drain thread size is M10x1.5, but Fumoto doesn’t list an M10x1.5 but they do have a M10x1.25. Lot of bad info thus far. Good luck, and please do keep us posted.

Well, I can confirm that the Fumoto valve with the M12-1.75 thread will NOT fit. Too big.

Hopefully Fumoto will make one in the near future that fits.

Thanks for the update. Haven’t done a change myself yet, but I’ll measure the threads when I do. I’m thinking it’s M10-1.5, but the closest Fumoto has is M10-1.25 (F124N).

Cool! Let us know. It would be nice to know the actual thread size. I guess this valve is going back.
