so whats the verdict between the monte carlo tb and the trail blazer tb? is on bigger then the other or not? so far, it seems as the best thing to do is to go to town on the stock canyon/colorado tb with a dremel according to N3... unless the trail blazer tb is indeed larger then the coly/canyon's and the monte carlo's...
anyone?

I measured the trailblazer vs. my stock. I garuntee the trailblazer TB is DEFINITLY .030 larger then the stocker. I've noticed a decent gain. Just ask stocker2, he drove my truck yesterday, and it pulls like a train. It definitly has more power beyond the standard intake exhaust tune colly. but untill I get on the dyno nobody will give me credit....

thanks, thats all i needed to know... i think with your statement and the gains you feel. i believe every bit in combination helps. i'll be ordering one soon and doing a bit of porting on it also.

XHRcustoms, do you have a before dyno? I would like to see the numbers under the curve. Peak numbers look good on paper, but its whats under the curve that really matters! :)

will the 05 trailblazer TB fit the 07 3.7L I5? i cant imagine why it wouldnt unless im missing something?

If I had an 07 to test electronics on I would be able to confirm if it will work or not....maybee I will test grease monkey's truck when it comes in next week for the exhaust.

the only dyno run I have is box stock with 500 miles on the clock. but 184 h.p. wasn't to shabby!! I'm in the process of getting dyno time for stocker and I, so everyone be still...numbers are on there way. Good or bad I want everyone to know what's working and what's not.

I just bought a '05 tb TB off of ebay, it was from a tb with only 5,000 miles, at first it was $85 and after 4 days it went down to $59 so I bought it. after this I am getting a pcm from pcmforless, so everybody will see how the TB does on an '07 2.9!!!

I need some help, I kind of want to port/polish my throttle body, I know a guy that does it for $75 an hour, does that sound like a rip off?

can I get it port/polished while keeping the same butterfly? what will that do?

will a port/polish give me noticeable power?

this is for my trailblazer TB I got off ebay, it hasnt come yet, so I dont know how it runs with it yet, I'm not 100% sure it's even going to fit, but if it does will having it port/polished be worthwhile?

holly ****, this throttle body is A LOT bigger than my stock on the 2.9L, I roughly measured the outside diameter and the 4.2 tb TB was about 3.25" and my stock was just under 3".

If you look at them next to each other you can 100% clearly and easily see how big the difference is.

BUT BUT BUT....it didnt work, It matched up and bolted on and everything, but after about 5 sec of running it said power reduced and wouldnt let the engine go above 3000 rpm. It was too much air! And it sounded awful at idle, sounded real rough and sounded like a harly, (say potato over and over again really fast, thats what it sounded like)

SO do you guys think that a pcm from pcmforless can fix this???
Becuase I really want this TB on my truck!

Why is a 4.2L Trailblazer throttle body larger than a 5.3L Monte Carlo throttle body?
pretty easy to answer really..

Your TB has to be big enough to flow the air needed to fill your cylinder while your running...

the 4.2 i6 has more volume per cylinder than the 5.3l v8...

4.2/6 = .7l per cylinder...
5.3/8 = .66l per cylinder...

you need a larger TB to flow the air to fill the larger cylinder.

the 5.3 would probably get good advantage from the more air, just like we do on ours.. but why ours is more restricted than the 4.2's don't know.. as we have the same volume per cylinder... ( and .03 inches doesn't sound like much.. but does make quite a diff in performance )

Thanks for the feedback. It was tough for me to grasp the fact that such a small amount of change would make such a big difference but I have been sold after hearing feedback from those completing the mod.

Just like you, I still do not understand why our 3.5L TB's are different because the cylinder volume is .7 on the trailblazer and colorado....

Will a 2002 throttlebody work on our trucks?
