Hi All,

New here and I hope is were I should post this. I'm looking for best tailgate led light bar (turn, stop and reverse bar). I have them in the past and they only lasted a year or so. Sorry this is for a 019 Chevy Colorado Crew cab 5' bed.

Thanks

I installed the OPT7 taillight bar a couple months ago. I have no long term results but so far it’s been flawless. When I installed it, I bought a Curt 7 pin Y to 5 pin flat connection. It made the installed easy. There was no cutting or splicing involved. Simple plug and play. I’ve had no issues with the back up camera either.

I have the putco tri blade. Same install as mentioned above. Has white light for reverse also.

The OPT7 does as well which is why it’s important to get the 5 pin flat. The fifth pin is for the reverse connection. If you go with a 4 pin connector, you’ll need to hack into your reverse lights which I think is causing at least some of the reported issues with the back up camera.

This is the connector. It plugs in behind the bumper in the existing trailer harness.

How were you able to get the white wire plugged into this harness? Did you splice on some kind of plug to grab the 5th pin on the harness? Have not had my morning caffeine so the brain cells are not fully functioning this morning.

I have had the Putco Blade since October and like it. Installed using the Curt 5 pin y connector others have described above (thanks to other threads on this site!). Sorry, no pics handy at the moment.

i have the OPT7 along with the Curt connector and am super pleased with it. the light bar looks like a laser line compared to the other ones on the market that you can see the series of dots from a mile away. Same price point, too. No comparison in my opinion.

Thanks everyone for the help. Looking into putting the trailer plug on the truck then the tailgate light next.

Thanks

If you’ve read through the other posts and videos, they mention the bump outs in the area where you’re going to mount the bar. I used an inch wide piece of aluminum that spanned the entire area and cut out notches to fit around the bumps. I used 3M double backed tape to mount that to the truck and then mount to tail light bar to the aluminum pieces. It fits great. If I can find anyone locally that wants help doing it, I’ll take some pictures.

Installed mine over the weekend. Got the OPT7 light bar and connected using the Curt harness identified above in the thread. Very easy install and as nzdaddy_o stated you'll want to mount this where the bumps are in the bed under the tailgate. If you go higher, the tailgate looks like it will hit the light bar when dropped down. I was rather surprised how close the tailgate came to the bar when dropped down. I used 3M tape to the back of the light bar to fill in the gap between the bar and the truck itself. The only advise I would give is get the larger (.176) male bullet terminals for the white wire.
