I would do it again if I was younger and more active. Don't get me wrong, its the best one out the 3 generations I've owned. I'm heading for retirement, work 99% from home and it kills me to see it parked most of the time.
In reality, I should trade in the car and truck for 1 vehicle, and I know it won't be a pick up because of the wife and real needs for space.
No problems to speak of, and the board just keeps me current on its features and fixes.
You are headed for retirement and you own a ZR2 Desert Boss so you should get into camping with towing an rv and light off roading in your Desert Boss. Or at the very least do some cruising in it before trading it in in a few years

'24 Canyon Denali - just over 12,000 miles. Would absolutely buy it again. The only issue from a functionality standpoint has been the rear-facing camera display is missing the guideline grid. Have a service appointment coming up in October to diagnose. No other problems, and I love driving this truck much more than the '18 Sierra CC standard bed it replaced.

You do know the grid is a menu option, you can trigger it on or off with the camera app
I did not know that, but I never noticed that mine is missing until I just read this

on my 2017, it was different then the wifes Grand Cherokee, as to how it was used..

Let me preface by saying that I love everything about this truck... except the interior space. It's a head-turner, it has plenty of power, the interior design is beautiful, the exterior design is beautiful - I just don't fit in it! My next truck will likely be another 1/2 ton. Probably another Ram, or GMC AT4.

If you’re heading for retirement, definitely hold onto it. I retired in January. My last 3+ years of working was from home, and I put so few miles on my car (about 4000 miles in two years, nine months), I turned it in when the lease was up, and we got by with one vehicle. Then just a few months after retiring, I found myself needing something to get me around while the wife is at work, which is how I ended up in a used 2wd Collie LT. I still don’t put many miles on - under 1000 in the four months I’ve had it - but that’s still more than i did while i was working. If you’re both going to be retired, that might be a different story. But my wife still has a few years before she hangs it up, and I need my wheels.

Absolutely! It’s the perfect truck for the wife and I before we start having kiddos. Even when little ones come along I think I’ll be able to get a couple years with it. Having sat in all the current mid size trucks, the Colorado has the biggest back seat. It’s the ideal truck for me going to job sites and it just looks good. It performs great, rides great, and I haven’t had any issues with it. I’d do it all over again and again and again.

I really can't remember if there was an option for lines on my Gen2, they were always there.

The Gen 3 has that option for sure, lines through the rear camera, front camera and well as the 3D view depending if in Reverse or Drive.
When I first got the truck, only the rear camera had the guide lines, but some update somewhere gave me lines for the front camera as well when in drive, stays on for 10seconds ± or until I pass a certain speed.
I like the lines more so I know where to stop and have enough room to drop the tailgate (the first red rectangle = space for tailgate)

Are you exceptionally tall or just a really big guy?

Wife never worked for the past 25+ years if not more, no kids and I still don't know how she fills her days, but she's busy according to her. (I learned not to ask)
I got her a car and drives less than I do, but I was out of the house and couldn't leave her stranded.
Now I'm working from home, both vehicles spend most of the time in the driveway and I have to play taxi driver if she has an appointment in town. She only drives within a local 5 mile radius of the house. I only put on 8700 km (5400 miles) in 20 months, my wife's car has 7000 miles in 4 years
I got the ZR2 because I thought I would be more work active, but decided to roll it all back and let the company get used to me not being there to fix problems constantly.
I know if I go down to 1 truck/SUV/Car, my wife will fight me when I want to leave, because she "thinks" she has errands (that she doesn't do anyway)

I know this was put in the Gen 3 category but my 2022 has been great so far. I few little hiccups that fixed themselves. The only issue that might pop is when I retire. My plan is to get a trailer or camper and travel the US. My wife does not fly, so that is going to be our way of doing it. Hotels are always an option, but I wanted to try and travel roads less seen and even do some if not all of Route 66. My concern is the towing capacity. Other than that, it has been a great truck for me, size an power are perfect for what I have needed it for.

I’d definitely purchase again! My only issue with the TB is the cowl fitment. It’s a 23 and have 12k on it. Next trip to the dealer I will address the cowl with them…….again.
As stated before it rides great and looks awesome, especially with a slight lift on it. Tows the boat like it isn’t even back there!

I'd do it again. I like the truck a lot and got a fairly loaded up truck.

Thanks - yes, I'm aware. My issue is that the option is "greyed-out" and there is a perpetual hourglass in the upper left corner of the camera display.
I've read that either a soft reset ( hang up button 10seconds ) or hsrd reset ( neg battery terminal dosconnect 10min) seems to cure a multitude of menu hang ups. Slightly easier than heading to a dealer, which would be the 3rd option in my book.

I think I'd try the Tacoma or Frontier next.
So far in the midsized truck genre I've had
2000 Tacoma
2005 Tacoma
2021 Gladiator
2024 Canyon

The Tacomas have been vastly superior in mechanical reliability and durability.
The Gladiator was the mist fun and most work.
The Canyon has been the most comfortable and luxurious.

Tacomas became what they are based on being simple, reliable, and relatively inexpensive. The new Tacoma is none of these things.

I’ve been a Toyota loyalist for 3 land cruisers over the last >30 years. When my daughter eventually bought the 2024 ZR2, she cross shopped the new Land Cruiser, GX550,Tacoma, and frontier. My local dealer even gave me a GX550 to try for the weekend. I was thoroughly unimpressed with the new run of Toyota’s and the Tacoma was the worst of the bunch I drove. And her $$$ went to the Colorado.

your 2000 Taco's frame did not rust and break in 2 , or you sold it before it could?

I was cleaning the mud from on top of the front skid plate and my screw driver went right through the frame on my 2001.Frame rust started in 1996 and went through 2006ish..
they replaced the frame, Dealer had done so many they replaced the frame in less than a day.

Frontier is a solid truck stuck in the 2010's though, a guy in my hood has a nice looking one, lifted 2 inches with a little larger tires on oem wheels
