So I have a 2015 GMC Canyon SLE 4x4, 3.6L V6 engine.
The other day the temp gauge went all the way up and the dash said overheating then the engine slowed down.
After cooling down it worked fine for about 10 miles then did it again but cooled back down again very quickly. The gauge would
go between about 160-180 all they way up to max within a couple seconds and then it would a few minutes later drop back down in temp just as fast.
I figured maybe the temp sensor was defective so I replaced it. Same issue. I then decided it must be the thermostat but I
removed it and tried the boiling test and it seems to work fine. (by the way the truck WAS overheating when it said it was)
So if it isn't the temperature sensor or the thermostat what could it be??
Thanks
