Trying to replace the valve cover on my 2015 colorado. It is a 4 cylinder 2.5 engine . It appears that the valve cover has a solid circle around the right side of the rear of the camshaft preventing me from removing it. Has anyone done this and if so what is the trick.
I can't believe you would have to pull the motor to do a valve cover gasket.

Got the shop manual and found out that the culprit was the vacuum pump for the brake booster. A real PTA to remove. 2 of the 3 bolts that hold it on are not to bad to remove but the the one by the temperature sensor is a feel only pta to do. If you are going to do this job you need the gaskets for the pump also. I decided to replace the pump at the same time as it had 140000 miles on it and I don't want to do this again. Took me just shy of 5 hours to do but saved me $600 in labor.
