So I was towing my old Civic from DC to SC And I checked my trans temperature periodically. It seemed to stick around 140-150 For the most part. About the last hour of my trip I checked one last time and it was at 176. It didn't set off any warnings or alarms, but I don't have much experience towing so I don't know what's normal.

Maybe it's just for piece of mind, but I like to occasionally pull the dipstick & have a look at the color of the trans fluid (bright red = good & brownish = bad) or smell it to see if it smells burnt.... Call me old school!
Oh ya, we don't have dipsticks on the twins.... IMO GM could use a few less "dipsticks" in decision making positions! :rofl
