I have a 2007 Colorado. A year ago or so, I replace all my tires and installed new TPM units in all six (two Winter tires, stored over 100 ft. away in a shed) tires. I could not get the truck to recognize the new TPM units. Conventional wisdom (on this and another Chevy Colorado boards), was that I would have to take it in to the dealer. So, I thought that I had spent enough time and money on the TPS's and I would just live with the dash message that I had a low tire.
However while at the mechanics today for an unrelated problem, they brought up the subject of the TPM warning message. I told them the frustration I had with the problem and they mentioned that if the spare had a TPM unit, that could be causing the computer not to recognize the new units, despite going through the routine of leting air out, waiting for the horn beep, etc.
So, my question is: Does the spare on 2007 Colorado's come with a TPM installed in it? It does not seem logical to me inasmuch as those undersize spares are only meant for very limited and temporary use.
