Tail light broken

Anyone have a problem with the upper tail light tabs breaking off for no apparent reason? On my truck it's the passenger side tail light where the mounting screw goes. It's never been hit, and there is no scretches or cracks in the tail light.

Also, anyone know the part numbers (for both sides, my drivers side ont is scratched) so I can look it up on gmpartsdirect?

Thanks,
Greg

Nope, I'm sure. I've owned it since new so I know it hasn't been rear ended. No dents in the bumper or any marks on the tail light. I noticed that it was loose the other day and just unscrewed it a little while ago and the plastic tab with the metal clip still attached fell out of the assembly.

I have no idea what would cause the tabs just to break...with no evidence of damage otherwise...but as far as buying new lights...you could check out ebay, usually get decent prices for the OEM stuff on there

Greg,

Not to open up an old post my I just changed the bulbs in my tail lights this morning and my tabs were broken as well on both sides. It was the upper tab. I'm trying epoxy to see if they'll glue back in.

Mines broke too, but that because When I took my truck to get 31's put on in beautiful Alaska, a F'n drunk homeless man slamed himself into my tail light I yelled at him but didnt pay much attention to it. On my way back home though I look out my pass mirror and see my tail light hanging!! Luckily both screws were still in there and I managed to screw it back on.
