in a nutshell my 05 colorado with the i5 seems to have a misfire at idle and at very low speeds but i cannot feel it when i am driving normal...it has gotten worse lately and seems to only appear when the engine is cold and pretty much goes away after driving for awhile...the problem started after i changed my plugs and fuel filter so i ewnt back and changed the plugs back to the old ones and still happening since then i have sprayed my maf sensor to clean it i have removed my already very clean throttle body and cleaned that also...o yeah and i have no check engine light or trouble codes....this is a very irritating problem what am i missing here???? at first i felt a few misses while sitting in a drive thru but now it seems to really be missing alot in drive thrus until the truck warms up help please!!

Re: Someone HELP PLEASE!!!!!

There is a factory recall on the 05 heads. Something to do with the valve guides. Causes misfiring usaully pops a code though. I would check my coils and plugs first since you just happen to have messed with them. Maybe you jacked up one of the little wires that go into the coil. Wiggle them and see if it makes a diff. You can check for vacumme leaks by using an unlit propane torch or starting fluid around all of the connections on your intake. Just work your way from filter to head and listen. If you find a spot where the engine RPMS increase there's you're leak! Good luck!

Could this be a possilby sticky or leaking fuel injector, that gets better after a warm up? You could try running some injector cleaner thru the fuel tank. Hope it helps.

I had an issue where my idle was not what I would call a purr and so I cleaned the throttle body and MAF sensor.I was very skeptical that any buildup or gunk on the inside of the throttle body would make a big difference in the way the truck ran. I must say that after I cleaned both the throttle body and the MAF it did run better at idle.

I have the same problem with my 06 Canyon has a rough idle is what I call it. I have cleaned the tb and maf and still does it. I am looking into busted motor mounts.... I do not know anything with the head issues on the 06. Does anyone know what this could be. I have talked to several mec. I just want to make sure tha I am not tearing up my truck. I love the truck it just gets annoying that it keeps going on.

Anyone had any success in solving this problem?

My 04 is exhibiting the same problem. It's had the head replaced last year.

Checked all the plugs tonight, they all look. Fine replaced fuel filter. Cleaned TB.

My symptoms are:

No CEL
While idling (650 rpm) randomly a misfire can be felt. Engine temp doesn't seen to effect it.
While in overdrive (1700-2000 rpm). if you give just enough gas to work harder but resist down shifting, you can feel random misfire's while the engine is working. After 2000 rpms it doesn't seem to happen, it at least I can't feel it anymore.

a coil? but i have no codes...how do you grease a coil what are you guys using to clean the maf also ive cleaned my numerous times and still the irratic idle what a pain this is
remove the coils and look into the boot. You will see a spring. I stretched the spring to 1/8' longer then it originally was to improve contact between the coil and plug. I used dielectric grease which improves electrical contact on both ends of the spring.

I used Keen Flo # 837 to clean the maf.
