Rough Ride

I just picked up a 2022 Colorado LT crew cab. This is the most rough-riding vehicle I have ever driven in my life, and I grew up on a farm and was in the Army for 21 years. My last small pickup was a 1986 GMC S-15, which on the contrary to this Colorado, it drove like a Cadillac. I drove it from Ft. Hood, TX to Ft. McClellan, AL and back, and I couldn't have had a better ride. This Colorado, doesn't have special tires or anything, but just turning into a parking lot shakes me so much that I almost bang my head against the side window, no matter what speed I'm going. The only time it drives smoothly is on a perfectly smooth street, and we don't have many of those where I come from. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the ride a little smoother? I have 17" wheels and 255-65R17 Goodyear tires on it. I wonder if I decreased the wheel size and kept the same tire circumference, with more rubber, would it drive smoother. Please Advise
