Sounds like your truck is wanting you to run the update that came out last week. Dozens of us experienced the same thing. Took me 4 attempts to finally and successfully download and install the update.

So, at the risk of sounding really stupid, does the system not automatically run updates? The only entries in the menu I see related to system updates is turning on background downloading and using wi fi when available.

Mine didn't. It gave me the option of doing it now or scheduling at a later time. For whatever reason, the next morning when I got to work, put the shifter into park, the infotainment screen had a message about if I wanted to install the update. I chose 'OK' and walked away, opened the facility, made coffee, came back out 10 mins later and it was successfully installed.
